I have always wanted some Borla mufflers on my Mustang but now that she is gone I took the plundge and purchased a set of Borla XR-1's from carid.com for $276 and free shipping. I have been torn between Dynomax, Magnaflow and Flowmast forever now. And mostly just because the cost of the Borla's but I said screw it i've wanted them for years so go for it. I know it's a bit too late but do you guys think that I made a wise and if not at least a decent decision?

I think I've only seen one guy with those xr1. it too late to find a better deal now. Get em on and some sound clips

Seems like a lot of cash.
Better sound as good as the first you got a girl to say yes.

I had a Steeda cat back on my Mustang. I was told the Steeda mufflers are made by Borla. The magnaflow x pipe with the steeda cat back was my fav exhaust set up on the car I use to get compliments all the time. Let us know how they sound and get some clips for us to hear

i paid bout 2ish for a set of spin tech muffler a few year back and had paid 250 for a boom tube that was going to be installed in my 96 but never did also bout a 94 rear bumper for 100 buck so i could use the boomtube. money spend on thing i never used.....i would rather have a 96 then my 98

That would be a great idea with the sound clip thread stuck to where it's easly found. About the sound clips. I will take some as soon as I get them here and installed. I dont really like sound clips for the simple reason as they never sound accurate as they do in real life. Because there are so many different types of mic's (Dynamic, Aucoustic, Tube types, Large and Small capsule types, Generic mics etc.) and they all sound much different when played back. And then there are all the different computer speakers out there that all produce different sound quality. That's why I couldn't make my mind up when listening to all the clips of different mufflers. I know I sound awfully picky but I tune in car audio systems to sound great. And have also worked with home audio with different mic's to get that theater sound and I have an ear for different frequencies even very subtle ones that most miss. Plus I only have a Nokia 5800 camera phone and or a HP Photosmart R60 to choose from to get a sound clip. And neither of them are gonna be able to record the full effect because of there acoustic cut off frequencies.

I was looking at the XRs too but decided on the Pro XS and will be orderinmg them Friday. I too always wanted Borlas and decided screw it, dont care what others think. I am gonna get them with the Magnaflow x-pipe res. :)

I'll get to doing true duels as soon as I can. I ordered 2.5inch beacuse down the road I want to get it all done the way I want but just dont have the money to do it all at once. I was checking out the prices of there pipes and about fell over. Hell even just 2.25 to 2.5inch couplers were over $30. But then again I guess that's why there stuff is lifetime.

I bought a complete mandrel bent 2.5" pipe kit for $150 shipped. All bent and ready to go, just add mufflers. :)

Man you caught a good deal. They're $245 right now for the 304 stainless. I'd go for Aluminized Steel but if our cars produce water like my Mustang did it wont last but 2 or 3 years as much as I drive. I've put over 60,000miles on the Rav4 and I've only had it 1yr 10mths and it only had 8miles on it when purchased. I drive entirely too much.

Well, good luck with the mandrel bent pipe kit.

I guess if you're ok with it hanging several inches below the IRS it'll work out of the box. I wasn't, and had to make a bunch of changes.

You can look in THIS thread for my pics and comments.

Yeah but arnt your mufflers offset inlets? That pipe kit is for a center inlet muffler.

It has nothing to do with the mufflers.

The issue is the pipe routing through the tank and around the diff.

Who knows, maybe you'll be happy, but I wasn't.

Look at all the welded seams in this pic.

I had tought that they were too wide where they ran under the diff for you but I have spent many hours starring at your exhaust pics on my hard drive. Very very pretty! I need it to fit like that cause I am also getting that brace and would suck to have it redone. I need to make sure the shop knows how far it needs to be tucked. I also didnt spring for the stainless, I may regret it but after the cost of the bumper repair doubled what I had thought that threw the SS out the window. The aluminized crap on there now is almost 10 years old and is still in perfect shape so I am not worried about it.

Well, you get what you pay for, at least paint the welds after it's done.

Show the shop this pic.
