I own both a Gen II Mark LSC and a V8 LS. I enjoy both of them, but for a quick run to the grocery store I usually take the LS. For a long drive or a "cruise", I take the Mark.
We're just a bunch of WARMED OVER T-BIRD OLD GUYS

This is a funny thread. 90% of the threads on this site are BS. It's the BS that fills our empty time.

Mark VIII was an upgraded t-bird in it generation
T-bird was an upgraded LS.

Actually the VIII may be a upgraded T-Bird
But the Last T-Bird was a downgrade to the LS, chopping the roof off a platform designed with a roof ruined it. The LS platform came from the Jaguar S-type and some of it went into the 05 Mustang, its a good platform and know to be very rigid unlike the VIII platform that flexes with normal driving.
I have both cars and enjoy driving both. Not had one and then got the other. I can jump in either and drive them whenever I want. They are apples and oranges. The MarkVIII is quickly becoming old school but that is what makes it great, can't get them like that anymore and its still a very neat car. The LS is much more modern and streamline with todays cars but thats slowly going away. There are advantages to both but at least for me the LS has been a far better car.
Of MOJOs 400 posts 100 of them are in the LS forum talking stupid. And of the 100, 25 of them are saying the same stupid thing...that the LS is a warmed over Taurus, which makes no sense at all. This likely caused a LSer to say the crap about the VIII. Then he runs over to this side and crys about it.

Yes true. Ribbing and ball busting and just talking completely stupid are not the exact same thing. If someone goes out of there way to go into a forum just to babble dumb and even worse....say the exact same lame thing repeatedly is just stupid. To top it of when someone throws it back at them they start this thread like they are innocent or something.
I have both cars and speak personally on both. I can poke fun and take the shots back.
OP posts stupid, period.
Imagine a Mark7 owner jumping into the MarkVIII side on a weekly basis just to call it a "WARMER OVER TUARUS" for no real reason at all. Stupid.
Edit. Is that really what real guys do.....I can think of better things to do.

sounds like someone was trying to get a LS bashing party round-up, ive seen crappy Marks on here, and ive seen nice LSes on here, i personally like the Mark better because i own one, but theres a red LS out there with nice ground effects and blah blah, i thought we come to this site for parts and helpful info to HELP one another because we all have a common hobby..the love of our cars..non-sence is bad mmmK

Now if you told me to jump in my "WARMED OVER TUARUS" to go see him that would be stupid.

I am not putting down the mark8 whatsoever, but when I was a 16 the mark8 was coming out as the 94 model It was the ultimate car to me, it ranked right up there with the Lamborghini countach and Porsche's of the time. I wanted one so bad, but was tooo expensive, now I can pick one up for a few hundred bucks, and recently was given one because the fuel pump went out. I now own a 2000 LS it just seems so much more refined, and quicker w/o modification. I had a nice 97 mark right before the LS now. I Loved the mark but would never in a million years downtrade the ls for a mark. The mark is more like a mustang, and I have a mustang so what the point. Now The continental is a warmed over taurus. until 95 the conti was a taurus with air-ride, So whoever is telling you it is a warmed over taurus they have your car confused.

We all need to get along we all own Lincolns and thats why we're on here. My opinion is that we are all part of the same family and we all have different opinions b/c we are not all the same, we all have different types of mentality. In my case I like both vehicles. I own a 2002 LS V8 sport and I have a 97 Mark VIII.....both are true American luxury automobiles. Also both vehicles have there ups and downs they are not perfect b/c nothing is perfect they are meant to break b/c of wear and tear. We need to get along and thats final we are part of the same family "LINCOLN".
