Finally changed oil filter housing gasket!!!!

i finally changed this piece of :q:q:q:q gasket, man did it take forever!!! thanks to everyone on here i got all the info i needed even a diagram and step by step instructions.. ive worked on my old 67 chevy alot but this was nothing like that.. all i had was a jack and a dirt lot so you guys can image how that went and i totally forgot about the mess it was gonna make.. not to mention i have the fattest hands so that made it so much harder. thanks to everyone who helped me out with this,

I've had to do the job on 3 of my cars. The suckers will leak when it's cold in the morning. Not too bad when one has a lift. (I'm a mechanic so that helps)

Jamie done the one on my 95 before I bought it. Never leaks in the cold or hot. The car has no leaks anywhere and that's a first for me.

nope, just the filter housing itself. and be prepared to make one hell of a mess

i did a friends 94 what looked like the Exxon Valdez wherever it parked, and I did unbolt the PS pump and move it out of the way, it does make getting at the adapter bolts easier as I recall-if you can change your oil, you can do this, it is just messier and you need to remove the driver front wheel and go through the cutouts to get to some of the bolts (there are only four). The worst part, IMO was getting a bolt started with the adapter and gasket lined up-I used a light coating of grease to hold the gasket to the adapter to get it going.

I tried replacing this gasket on my old 94, it's one of the few jobs I've ever had to outsource... I rounded off the inside of a socket on one of the damn bolts and gave up. The mechanic I went to quoted me like $50 including parts so I jumped on it - turns out he didn't know there's coolant running through there as well.

I found the when I changes the OFG on two of my Marks that it's nicer if you have another hand to help either hold the gasket in place when you are installing it or have someone outside the wheel well ready to crank in the bolt as you adjust the gasket into place.
