Question on moonroofs

I could not make it out to the junkyard today SO I made the mistake of letting somebody else get me a glass for the Mark VIII, well it's wrong!:eyeroll: Nothing new, now they swear it came out of the 94 that was there hard to believe I think they got it out of the 97. But could it be an aftermarket glass? I'll get pictures tomorrow, I was too mad to get them tonight! It is about 4 or so inches shorter side to side then my factory glass.

If it's aftermarket what kind of money could I get out of it? I will need to sell it so I can get the other, and recoup my money.Never trust two people with half a brain between them! :slam
 
When you finally get all that resolved, let me know because I have a 94 factory roof glass that I'll be selling. As of now, everything is still installed and everything works, except for the car.

Yes..... I have no idea want its worth, put it up on craigslist.

what the inside of your roof look like... the switch is the dead give away on aftermarket or stock.

My sunroof looks just like NoLimit's other then I have no glass left, so mine is factory. I'm just trying to figure out if the piece of glass I got yesterday is factory for a 97 or in fact aftermarket for a 94. I showed them what a 94 and 97 looks like and they swear again it was a 94.

NoLimit any way you could tell me what shipping would be to 38551? And what you want for it also, that way I can figure an asking price for mine.

You know it really bothers me to see that car setting out there like that and getting all wet inside. Yes, I could have covered it but when I flew out to Florida to get the 95, it rained the whole 2 days I was gone, so it's kinda too late.

As for the roof price, I'll have to check and see what all is involved with getting it out. I have to move the car out of the driveway anyway but I can't do it until it quits all this raining. Right now it's about 22 outside and sleeting.

And that's a fair price, but the one on ebay sure looks like the one I got yesterday, I'm thinking that one might be aftermarket also?

I wish somebody who knows if the one I have is aftermarket or not would chime in, I really really do not want to ask my brother who works at ford.
 
It's really rare for aftermarket moon roofs to be put in a Mark VIII. Laser has one and I think he's the only one I know of that does have one. Does your glass have the chrome around the edges?

I'm trying to figure out what's making you question the glass that was brought to you. It looks to be factory to me but in the pics, it's kinda hard to tell a lot about it. I would look and see if mine reads out what you says yours reads but it's dark and still sleeting outside right now.
 
The only reason I questioned it was when I looked at it, it looked to small so I put it on top of mine lined up the one side and the other side came up short about 4 or so inches. Is the 97-98 sunroof smaller then the 93-96?

The sunroof in my car has the chrome around the edge, the one I got yesterday does not.
 
My 94 had an aftermarket moonroof. Mespock owns it now.

I may be thinking wrong but it seems like the factory moon roof glass should have Ford imprinted into the glass.

That above doesn't seem like that would be on the factory glass. If the car was still in good shape and not burnt and in the garage where I always kept it, I would gladly go check and see what it says. Sadly, it's not out there anymore.

That would be cool if you could check sometime, no hurry! I seen your thread about your car, I'll never mess with the injectors after seeing what happened to your car and you!
 
BTW the gen 1 glass has chrome around the edge on the topside, gen 2 has black..

So, if you have a preference. I'm definately trading my chrome out for a black one when I get back to the point of nit-picking my car.

I knew that, but I was under the impression the the gen 1 and gen 2 glass is different. Is that true?

..I really doubt it. Could be, and if I was in your shoes, I would probably not risk it. But I really really doubt they're different. I'll find out I guess. Jamie would know. He'd probably have glass laying around, too.
 
I just measured mine for ya. I measured the total size, actually the opening in the roof.

Factory 1994 moonroof, 36" x 18.5"

Factory 1998 moonroof, 32.25" x 18.5"

I never noticed the 94 was bigger. A friend of mine has an aftermarket moonroof in his 98, and it is bigger than the factory 98 moonroof (don't remember the exact size).
