I search around the threads for a little bit and have found a couple of different posts but I figure I could start a thread to get all the answers in one place.
I'm interested in getting a 06 LS and some things aren't offered as direct bolt on’s as with the 1st Gen's. The most notable performance piece is the exhaust. I’ve seen some people run the Bassani Jaguar exhaust but then changing to custom set ups with either Flowmasters or Magnaflows. Has anybody used the Mina Jaguar exhaust??? And if you guys are running a sound resonator which one have you had the best results with? Also, what size pipe did you use from the cat’s back to the resonator/mufflers?
These are all questions that will have different answers from everybody who’s run custom exhaust on their 2nd Gen LS. I look forward to seeing what set up all you guys who sound off have!

There are no bolt on kits for gen2's. Magnaflow was doing one but when they only gained 2-3 HP out of it, they dropped it. I think I read that the kit made by magnaflow was installed and tested on someone's ls on here and thats the only "kit" that was ever made for gen2

NYC LS8 had the bassani muffers on his ls and I read he liked them and still votes that over other exhausts, from what I read.

.I think it was 04SCTLS that put the mina on his ls. New, that exhaust is about 1000+. I'm not sure if ths is his on this video, but I would bet it is because his car is green and so is the youtube one, plus they are both 04. I dont know how it did performance wise but I dont think you would want it for the sound because it sounds similar to stock.

I have had both borla and flowmasters on my ls. Performance, I would go with borla and they have a good sound but not as loud as flowmasters, a little louder than stock. For sound, flowsmaster is real nice but I felt like I lost in performance when I switched to those from the borlas. I am going to put on slp's in a few weeks and see how those are. Magnaflows are also good for performance with some good sound from them.

I have the stock pipes but might be going with 2.5'' when I put slp's on. Most gen1 guys get new piping cause their pipes are smaller than gen2's. I think gen1 is 2'' and gen2 is 2.25. I have read going with 2.5'' might make you loose some low end torque bt gain some HP, I dont know whats would be the best outcome.

Np. So this is if you end up getting the 06 right? You have a gen1?

Right now I have flowmaster mufflers with resonators. I had borla mufflers before these. In a few weeks I will go with SLP I think. I want performance with good sound. Magnaflows have good performance but not the sound I'm looking for

Most mufflers will fit the ls, but I think he was asking what cat back kits were out there, like the magnaflow kit that has all the bends in the pipes ready to just install with no custom work needed.

You know, I just reread my post and it was very ambiguous. What I meant is the Magnaflow, Borla or what ever that is made for a gen 1 LS will also work on the gen 2s. In fact, the '06 V8 system is similar to the '01-'02. Unless the '03-'05 systems are the same, the '03 would be unique.

I really liked the way NYC LS8 bassani muffers sounded in that first vid. Not to loud but aggressive when he nailed it in that brief moment.
I need to PM him when I'm ready to (or should I say if/when I do get do this trade in) do the exhaust as far as what series he used.

That bassani sounds nice and all... but wouldn't that get annoying as hell after a while? I have never really been a fan of the 'popping' sounding exhausts. I like a deep rumbling.

However I only have stock right now, I am thinking of getting aftermarket eventually though, I think magnaflows would suit me best.

I have had flowmasters with resonators for a year now and it does not get annoying. Love it even more everytime I turn on the car.

dont know what would b the best at a performance standpoint but im guessing if magnaflow couldnt figure it out. there isnt too much that can b done to increase the horsepower. if you want sound, bassani with x pipe n resonator delete would sound good. i dont know about the silver ls with bassani but nyc has the bassanis and he doesnt have that popping noise. bassanis are louder then the magnaflows but keep in mind nyc also ended up weldin in some aero turbine resonators later on n it changed the sound. i went straight pipe and now i dont think im ever goin back. pulled up next to a gt with some mags or straight pipe but i cudnt really tell, since i had my bad boys makin some sweet music of there own. i may not beat it in a race, but i sure as hell look and sound good drivin the ls.

Found a good article on two of the exhaust brands I was looking into. Bassani and SLP exhaust. Magnaflow is in there too. M1R tested this 3 exhaust on a mustang to see hwo they actually performed. Borla and flowmater were conted but did not participate in the tests.

Magnaflows was ranked #1, made 12.5 RWHP and 8.2 RWT increase above the baseline dyno run, but also the quietest,1500RPM = 85dB,3000RPM = 96dB

Slp was 2nd with 8.5 RWHP and 14.9 RWT increase above the baseline dyno run. Was also the loudset 1500 RPM = 91 dB, 3000 RPM = 104 dB

Bassani was last producing about 4 RWHP and about 8 RWT. They were also a little louder than the magnaflows with 1500 RPM = 87 dB 3000 RPM = 101 dB

You will not get that on a 2nd gen Lincoln LS, you will change the sound and gain 3-4 hp. Ford did a good job of make the 2nd gen exhaust more efficient from the 1st gen.

The Bassanis on that silver car is the system I bought. He used to post here. He had no cats on his car which is why you got that popping on deceleration. Mine had it somewhat with the stock cats and no resonators but not to that point (in the video of my car posted above). Sounded too Mustang-ish for me and not what I was going for with that car. I then put in the AeroTurbine resonators and it tamed it a little and sounded just right. Only took 3 or 4 different set-ups. lol

Yeah I know we wont but it was just to show how the exhausts compared. If we get a little with magnaflows, we'll get less with slp and even less gains with bassani

I have magnaflows and no resonators, I think its too quiet. I think this spring I will have them removed and go with Bassani, if they don't cost a rediculous amount.

I chose Magnaflow from video clips, they sounded clean and appeared to have a deep growl. They don't sound bad, but I want more.

So who wants some Magnaflows lol

That sound pretty good. Was it really that loud?

Yes
that is my 04 LS there in the vid with the Mina's from 2 yrs ago.
They're just straight through glasspacks and the tips need to be extended to work in the LS.
One fell off on me a few weeks ago and the car sounded hardly any louder so I just put in a straight pipe with the tip brazed on instead.
Don't bother spending 1000.00, just put in some straight pipes and tips.
It even seems a little more squirelly.
I like the sound of my car with stock resonators and straight pipes with homemade CAI.
These are cheap mods that work.
