common sense!!!

for the record this is from Merriam - Webster

Sports Car
Date: 1928
: a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving

Now I am going to assume that back in 1928 when the phrase "sports car" came about they would have been pretty F-ing amazed at the quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed of the Lincoln LS. Probably enough that they would overlook the 2 extra doors. Sports car is just a frickin adjective why the hell are people arguing about it?

Getting off my high horse now. A high horse that is rather sporty.

The MKS, MKZ run smaller engines, more horsepower and torque and handle much better than the LS. this is what happens when cars are designed on a computer instead of the old way, on paper.

I would think someone who works for Ford fixing these cars would know better than to say something dumb like that. The only engine the MKS has that's faster than the LS' is EcoBoost, and it's only smaller because it uses twin turbo's. Not too many family sedan's running around with those, let alone cars that are turbo'd in general. The engine only came about due to recent advances in the 2 stage turbo to make it cheap and durable enough to use, if I remember my EcoBoost reading right.

As far as handling better - I want proof on that. Damn right I want proof. I can maybe buy the MKS being slightly better(doubtful due to its 600lbs+ extra weight), but the Fusion based MKZ? You're dreaming.

The MKZ doesn't even compare (260hp and a 0-60 of 7 seconds in a much smaller, badge-engineered car). Lincoln has one car that can compare to the LS - the much larger/not the same target MKS, which is more of a TC replacement than anything else. And it only beats the LS with 80+ more HP and torque and a decade more engineering know-how. Besides all that, nobody looking for an LS/MKS/5series/Eclass type car settles on a MKZ. Two different worlds.

Not to mention the DEALBREAKER of the MKS and the MKZ being FWD/FWD biased AWD only. You can't just gloss over that - with all that understeer, whether it's mitigated by technology or not, is still hampered vs. a rwd design when it comes to a sports sedan.

Plus, I'm pretty sure the LS had a lot of computer design involved, but I can't prove that... But as high-tech as the car and a lot of its components are, I feel safe calling BS on that. Can you even make a VVT engine design production ready without a computer?

Now when Lincoln hopefully puts that new 5.0 they're making in a new car we will be talking again.

With it's huge grille the MKS looks like something out of Yellow Submarine.:D

Been visiting this site for some time and have picked up a ton of good information, Thanks!! Thought I could make a causal observation and possibly help out a few of the members.
I work for Ford and have driven some great cars over my lifetime, I am probably older than most of the members and would love to give a little advice on LS ownership.

The LS is not a sports car, just a pretty good attempt at a performance sedan by Lincoln.
If you beat it, it will break. If you take care of the car, your chances of expensive repairs will drop.
Doing donuts and burnouts are always bad for a car, dont care how much money you spent to upgrade components.
If you wanted a car with good gas mileage, dont buy an LS.
if you wanted an inexpensive car to operate, dont buy an LS.
If you wanted a sports car, dont buy an LS.

The more expensive a car is when it was new will determine how expensive it is to repair and keep in good shape.

If you are looking for a fun car that looks great, you bought the right car!! The common theme for most of the posts revolve around how hard your LS is driven and then complain about the time and money involved to fix it.

Keep up the great posts, thanks!!

seems like we have a new group of members that need some good advice on common sense!!!

Oldie but a goodie!!

Heres some better advice for the new members. Don't believe a word this queer post. He is self-absorb a-hole. If you don't belive me, look up any of his past post. He is always insulting other members. He would rather insult you then help you.

+1.

I think i've seen maybe 2 non negative posts out of the 263 that he has. :F ~~~~~~~> :bash:.......Looks like I win :D

The thing that gives ford fan away is that he is a fan of the worst car brand ever F.o.r.d. (Found On the Road Dead) the t for the doesn't have to be included in acronyms.

How original!! let me see if I have this correct, every car manufacturer builds a better car or truck than Ford?
