common sense!!!

try to read the original post, no one was educating anyone. there are many members on this site that do some great stuff with their LS, thats what it is all about.
But the tards that think that because they have a V8 (wow) that beating the snot out of a car makes them cool, whatever.
Everything that everyone posts here IS simply opinion, couldn't care less about self-importance.
The car of the year award? Car cancelled due to lack of sales, thats what a business is supposed to do. Sad for LS owners, but a reality of a real business.
For Quilk LS, demographics for Lincoln has dropped from older white men in their 50's to men in the late 30's to mid 40's with enough money to buy a $40 car.
take the time to read and maybe understand the original post and notice the difference of opinion from educating other LS owners.

So... you keep going back to 'educating' LS owners... with your opinion.

Been visiting this site for some time and have picked up a ton of good information, Thanks!! Thought I could make a causal observation and possibly help out a few of the members.
I work for Ford and have driven some great cars over my lifetime, I am probably older than most of the members and would love to give a little advice on LS ownership.

Advice may as well be an opinion.

The LS is not a sports car, just a pretty good attempt at a performance sedan by Lincoln.

I've been here almost 2 years, and have yet to hear someone call the LS a "sports car"

If you beat it, it will break. If you take care of the car, your chances of expensive repairs will drop.

If you "beat" a 250,000 racecar....it will break. Most people know the saying..if you play you pay.

Doing donuts and burnouts are always bad for a car, dont care how much money you spent to upgrade components.

once again...some guys build their cars just for this reason...the same people know how to fix them when they break...plus donuts are sooo tastey

If you wanted a car with good gas mileage, dont buy an LS.
if you wanted an inexpensive car to operate, dont buy an LS.

18/24 mpg for a 4000lb car that can hang with mustangs (stock of course) bad?

my LS in 2 years has been less expensive to operate than my previous 2000 chevy malibu.

If you wanted a sports car, dont buy an LS.

I totally agree :)

The more expensive a car is when it was new will determine how expensive it is to repair and keep in good shape.

where do you get this Idea?

Look a few posts up from this one. It's not the only one, it's just the most recent.

Maybe so, but there are still people around here who post about beating on their cars then whine like little children when things break.

What he's saying is that you shouldn't be complaining about how much more it costs to repair your $10K LS than it does to repair a $10K Honduh. You have to take into account the fact that that $10K LS was a $50K luxury car when new, not a $25K econobox, and it had commensurately more expensive components used in its construction.

The LS is so far from being a sports car that it's not even funny. It is a 4 door sedan with enough power to cruise all day long and has good handling manners. Thats it, nothing more.

Wow - this is REALLY insightful of you. Since when would anybody get a light, two-door with a stickshift mixed up with a heavy four-door. This little "insight" of yours shows us your lack of intelligence.

Don't compare the LS to a BMW or Benz because it's not even close.

More close than most would like to admit - even in terms of poor reliability (especially the BMW) and poor resale.

The MKS, MKT and MKX are far superior vehicles that handle better, more horsepower and better fit and finish. If you beat them, they wont break as fast as the LS, but will eventually break. I am more that qualified to make this statement because I work for Ford and have driven all of the above.

Wow - anybody alive can see that Ford's quality has improved since 2000 when the LS came out (and was mildly freshened until 2006). If you think your little "I work for Ford" badge is supposed to be an automatic vindication for you, I work for the United Federation of Planets and fly the Starship Enterprise. I would trust a car magazine with expert advice over yours any YEAR.

Relax, the original post was simply to educate the much younger members with less resources to spend to avoid breaking a car with known issues. Nothing more, nothing less.

Nope, you started a troll post and are talking down to most people. If you read the forums, people KNOW what is wrong with these cars. They also know why they LIKE these cars.

It's just a Lincoln, some seem to think that they actually have something rare or unique. If it was such a huge hit with the buying customers, Ford would not have dropped it from their line up!!!

It is somewhat rare and unique as Ford doesn't usually take Jaguar platforms and rebadge Lincoln on them. The look is still unique today and hopefully there will be a few left on the road for some time. Marketing and poor decision making are as much to blame as anything.

If you are looking for a fun car that looks great, you bought the right car!! The common theme for most of the posts revolve around how hard your LS is driven and then complain about the time and money involved to fix it.

Keep up the great posts, thanks!!

+1

just saying an LS website may be the wrong place to come and try to talk down an LS. Yes there are people who ONLY come on here to diagnose or whine about thier car but others who are on here ALWAYS to discuss and mod, and love our LS's.

SoonerLS totally gets it!!!

been working on cars longer than some members have actually been alive, and i make my living building cars.

the starship captain should be careful as to what he reads in a magazine, the manufacturers spend money for the review!!

Look, continue to enjoy your LS, thats what it was built to do and I will do the same.

normally I agree that SoonerLS gets it, but this year LonghornLS gets it.

BTW - I believe James actually hook rockets to the side of his LS - once.

HE is qualified to make these statements, because he works for ford.

Let us all drive our Lincoln "Lame (as) Sh*ts" off, pouring gas into them, as they break down, and go slow.

Like theyre saying above, COMMON SENSE IS A MATTER OF ONE'S OPINION!
My common sense to flush the toilet when I piss is totally the opposite of someone who doesnt flush unless they sh*t.

Our sports cars are our sports cars. They break just like any other car, and they consume gas just like any other car.

Fordfan...its bad when a 17 year old makes more sense than you do...:D

I live in Michigan we all live and breathe the big three.... I dont know what you do for FORD, but just living in michigan we run into engineers that worked and designed these cars. The reason the LS died and was cancelled was Ford didn't advertise the car which was the reason why it had low sales output. 2nd Ford wanted the Wixom Michigan (which i live 20 mins from) closed. Many reasons could have been the reason, but to state the car was cancelled because it was a bad car is not correct at all. Ford was excited to modify the platform for the mustang, because of the LS performance possiblities.

at no time did I say the car was cancelled because it was bad, but because it could not sell enough to justify production.
put some thought into what you read before you reply!!

Eh, you're just sore that I didn't include your Lotus in the list of real sports cars.

:D

ha! 9-0.... now Colt has to put up some crazy numbers to get the trophey...

BTW - the rocket story is a good one... starts with 'hold my beer' and ends with 'I see stars'... ;)

My mom and dad both built the LS'es while they were built at wixom, we lived right across from central high school up there in walled lake, my dad still lives up there.

My dad stayed at wixom til the end, and built the GT for the time

Ford also found it to be a lot more difficult than expected to get boomers out of their 5-series BMWs or MBs than they thought. Likely because it was "domestic" versus their "European" cars.....less snob appeal.

Are you telling me cars designed 10 years after the LS are better cars...? ;)

Those vehicles are all far superior in size as well as power(MKS is like twice the mass of an LS when parked next to eachother, and the other two you named are SUVs so what is the comparison there?). And those cars don't have 10 years of history to tell if they are as reliable or more so than the LS (tho I believe they are). I think these are facts, I could be wrong, time will tell.

Do you happen to drive an LS? I'm on my 2nd so I've had some experience with them - they handle like a sports car, you can drive them like a sports car, and they are quick. The LS is probably nicer, faster, more comfortable, etc etc, than 80% of the cars I pass in a given day. And a nice clean one gets you looks along with the best of Luxury sedans(ok not so much now that it's aging, but people love the LS' looks).

Point is it may not be a master of any one thing, but to call it not a sports car or not up to spec vs newer and more modern cars is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. The LS can most definitely be a sports car(or at least it can drive as sport-sy as you like on paved roads), just like it can be a car that gets good gas mileage if you drive it as such.

But it's still a better car than the majority, so that makes us owners all special. Especially when you are swimming in a sea of Jap cars.

Yes I drive an LS. And yes, they are better than the majority of cars on the road for the same model years.
The MKS, MKZ run smaller engines, more horsepower and torque and handle much better than the LS. this is what happens when cars are designed on a computer instead of the old way, on paper.
Not beating a dead horse, the LS is a great car to drive and own, but the improvements have made the next generation more reliable and fun to drive!!

This has turned back into the typical LS is not a sports car thread. Why don't you guys just read through the 60 others. A new one seems to start up every month and a half or so.

The bottom line is that the LS compared favorably to the car it was targeted at namely the BMW 5 series. Compare like model years and you should be impressed that Lincoln did as well as they did considering they were so far outside their norm with this car.

Sports car? What does Webster's say the definition of sports car is? I think we are stuck on semantics there so drop it.

And I will reiterate that it is all about your point of view.
LS vs. Porsche 911 - Porsche wins.
LS vs. BMW 5 series - closer but we all know BMW still wins.
LS vs. My old Ford Windstar with 250,000 miles on it? You should see the :q:q:q:q eating grin on my face when I get in my kick-ass sports car.

Can't wait for the next time this gets started so I can make my Windstar - LS comparison again. Screw it, I'm putting it in my signature to remind everyone.

How is that a point? Show me any 2009 or 2010 car and compare it to a similar car from the same maker that is 10 years older where this isn't the case. Maybe you are saying that we should all buy a brand new car every year becuase next year's cars will be better? I guess you do work for Ford!
