Finally got some more engine detailing done today. Been working on my oil cap, trans dipstick, and oil dipstick for a week or so. They cleaned up pretty good. Wish i had more time...it's gonna take waaaaay to long at this rate. lol

That looks pretty nice, care to share how you did it?

the yellow clashed with my orange covers, so i wet sanded all the factory lettering off. Then i cleaned everything thoroughly, sprayed plastic adhesion promoter, primed, and painted the black. Drew the design on frisket, cut it out painted the silver and cleared it. You have to wet sand it and re-clear it a couple of times to completely "bury" the design so everything feels smooth.

Doesn't sound too hard, I'll have to keep that in mind, but what's frisket?

Brisket is a cut of meat from the breast or lower chest, however not related.

In airbrushing, a frisket is a plastic sheet with an adhesive backing used to mask off specific areas of an image so that only the exposed area is covered with paint.

yes frisket is used for airbrushing it's like a really wide piece of tape, the stuff i use is white and you can draw on it then cut out what you drew. If I were to do it again i would paint the silver first then lay down the graphic and paint the black. Just because it would have been easier to lay out.
