Okay i am about to buy a Gen2 Center Tail Light for my Gen1 and wanted to know how to/steps to replace my Gen1 Tail Lights with the Gen2's. Can anyone help me out. I checked out the Tech Articles and couldn't find anything to explain the process or how hard it'd be to do.

So are you going to replace the trunk lid too? And the rear quarter panels? Oh, and the rear bumper?

Because that is what you have to do.

Unless you mean the center HIGH light, then I have no clue but I bet they swap right in.

swapping the neon, will be alot of work, and as far as i know has never been done. ive seen gen 2's that were in a front end wreck and had a gen 1 front end put on it, so if you thought you saw a gen 1 with neon thats probably really what it was

Don`t forget the guy that put gen2 headlights in a gen1. I wasn`t crazy about it, but it wasn`t my car.

It'll take a lot of cuztomizing...unless you're very much skilled or have a lot of money it could be done....anything is possible, plus you'll have a very unique mark nonetheless. But if it was me....just buy yourself a second Gen.

How about sequential taillights instead.......LMS is working on them as a potential project for our members......less work and money but still different from everyone else....still in development right now I believe...

You can always go on ebay and buy you one or two LED strips and install them into the light bar very carefully. I was going to do it but still haven't got myself into the light mood yet. It will look more like neon than it does with 6 bulbs inside it. Once wired in, you'll never have to worry about a bulb going out on you. Should last longer than you own the car.

I was going to but after I heard some of the price's being tossed up I think i'll pass. I had them in my 96 Mustang and loved them. But they were only $55 and I had them for years and they still work however the car is no longer mine. Traded it off for some body work on my Mark from the autobody place. It was rendered a complete loss after the wreak. Car drove just fine I drove it home after the wreak but insurance wouldn't pay more than what it was worth. So oh well found the Mark and I love it. The Ryan one of the owners of Rice Autobody builds and race's Mustangs and he wanted mine to build up. So I traded.

Why? You never see it when your driving. And the only one who will enjoy it are the cars behind you and they don't care about you, DID THEY CARE WHEN YOU FEEL AND HURT YOURSELF, OR WHEN YOU WERE IN BED WITH A FEVER AND WAS UP TO ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT AND DID ANY OF THEM BRING YOU SOUP WHEN YOU WERE SICK OR HOW ABOUT THE TIME YOU FELL DID ANYONE HELP YOU UP OR WHEN YOU WERE IN SCHOOL AND YOU TOLD THE TEACHER TO GO F**K HERSELF DID THEY COME TO GET YOU OUT OF THE PRINCIPLES OFFICE:mad:  OR HOW ABOUT ......
OH!! sorry I got carried away!
never mind.

You Can Prob buy a Gen 2 for the Time and work needed to Convert the Rear of a gen 1 to a gen 2.. and it prob wouldn't look right

LMFAO. :p

as I stated many times...get a Gen 2 LSC and convert the front to a Gen 1 LSC and you'll have better tuning (OBD2) and have the updated features and interior and it'll be the worth it conversion in the long run...or you can have the outdated Gen 1 interior and features with both quarter panels welded on and bondo'd with the trunk lid swapped and the rear lights hunted down with the rear bumper and then move to the front to do a Gen 1 LSC conversion to Match the Gen 2 rear because those two base model chrome strips won't look right even if you painted them body color and also you still have OBD 1
