wheel spin

Nuts on too tight, loosten it. Or the bearings are shot but it would alsobe wobbly if that were the case.

It'd be pretty hard to get the front hub nut too tight, the torque spec is 188-254 Lb-Ft. Look somewhere else for your problem.
 
topher, did you buy brake pads from Auto Zone? If so, check to see if they have the thin plate on the back side of them with clips that come around the edges. Remove them and then put the wheel back on and it will spin freely. Sounds stupid but you will not hear any grinding when you spin the wheel. This is only if you have those thin shields on the pads.
 
The torque spec on that nut is like 295ftlbs... and if you know how the bearing is designed the torque on that nut has nothing to do with the wheel spinning....

The spec I quoted, 188-254 Lb-Ft, is directly from the shop manual....

got the NAPA ceramics with the "V" shaped spring on the top
 
Any thin metal plates on the back of them with small clips holding them to the pad? I know it sounds stupid but it took me almost 2 hours one day to figure that one out. I put a 20 spoke directional on and it done the same thing. I loosened the main hub nut, took the caliper off and finally figured out it was the thin plates doing it. They just pryed right off with ease and then put the wheel back on with the impact and it was spinning freely again. Never made a sound when they were on, just no spin when jacked up. Weird :confused:
 
DLF: Thats just what I was about to post. I guess I will go check mine tomorrow because a year ago I replaced my drivers side bearings and I know I didnt go above 120ftlbs when I tightened them. I dont have any noise or vibration but I guess I should check..... crap, my wrench only goes to 150. :(
Guess I will just put about 3/4 of my weight on it.
 
When i had this problem i had to replace my hub....I wish i would of took a pic of it...wow!
 
I'd put my money on the hub... it's a 20 minute job, and that is with cleaning and lubing the caliper stuff...
 
Then you SUUUUCK. New bearings are usually "stiff" when new but the weight of the wheel should allow for ease of bearing rotation. Take it to the scrap yard
 
My guess is that the caliper slides are stuck. Is one pad more worn than the other? can you move the caliper back and forth by hand with it still attached to the bracket?
