First off I call my Gen 1 Abe (get it Abe lincoln lol) I just got all new tires, alignment, new upper control arms and sway bar bushings, and install sirius in to him. Decided to take him out for a road trip, Drove from Florida to Ohio 980 miles, to Indiana 200 miles, and to Tallahasse 932 miles then home 250. Drove like a champ, Little concerned that I only averaged 23.8 miles a gallon new tires and all.

Jeff, sounds like fun. I live in Miami. I want to take my Mark on a ride north through the East coast of Florida then Georgia, the Carolina's, Tennessee, back to Georgia, then the West Coast of Florida ending back home to Miami. How many miles on your Mark VIII? I'm concerned about the miles & that I've only owned the car for 3 months. Ofcourse I would do the regular maintenance, oil change, radiator flush, new water coolant, balance & align the wheels/tires, etc... but is there anything I should watch out for? My car just hit 97,000 miles.

I had like 132 on mine, now its 134+ It is what it is lol I only drive 8 miles to work so what the heck. Sunroof open windows open sirius blasting driving threw atlanta on 75 85 miles an hour. Great time well worth it.

I changed my belt and tensioners, did a fluid check, balanced the tires a little heavy 39lbs and fresh coat of wax, and a shine on my rims, and I was off

nice its always fun to just get out there and drive. ultimatesvt 97k is just getting broke in. I drove my mark from where i live to florida and stayed in orlando for a month and drove bake put about 5k total on my car and never missed a beat the whol time.

That mileage doesn't seem particularly bad, particularly if you had the sunroof open, were in the mid-eighties, and you weren't actively trying to squeeze mileage out of the car.

Mine has over 200k and I was running it up and down the East Coast all last year. In fact, I used it to tow another car back from New York to Florida.

What kind of car did you tow with the mark? Can it handle the weight?
