I was pondering the other night and had a interesting thought.. kinda... a conti 281 swap in a windstar or early 90s taurus... i know ima get flamed for posting this, but any ideas on the possibility of this? I kno alot of you will wonder wtf is he thinking, but gotta ask
 
I think we've talked about that before-
specifically in the Taurus since you could get a SHO with a 5 speed.

I think it was determined to be "not worth the expense."
Perhaps someone will remember better.
 
May be interesting. Tim Allens Sallen Windstar sold on eBay not too long ago for like $10,000. It was blown but pretty sure it was still a v-6

Dot worry u wont be the only person on the face of this planet who will be trying to stuff a 4.6l conti into a taurus/sable, i want to say he has a 99ish with the 3.0l. im giving away mine to a good friend who wants to try it...in return i get a totaled 90 dodge daytona...hell of a trade huh...but i got plans for the dodge...lets just say im gonna take it for a "spin"
 
Why not, They put a SHO engine in the back of a Festiva. Leno has one. I keep thinking Beck(kit cars) did it.
 
Dodge did something simular in the early 90's with their mini vans. Turbo 4cyl in thier mini vans. Those are the ultimate sleepers.
 
Thats funny you started this, I was thinking the other day about a ford probe with a conti engine trans or change to rwd. That would be a small package. One of the first gen probe late 80's,I think they are alittle more roomy.
 
to the minivan, its still a mini van.....unless its the A-Team van, its still not cool...lol....and a probe....i can't see driving anything that shares a name to what aliens do to people's asses.....hahaha
 
How about in something that could benefit from the engine? A AWD Escape? Since that thing is front biased there should not be too much risk in harming the rear axle and drive shaft but it would get great traction out of the hole and an Escape aint that bad looking and would be a sleeper.
Couldnt ya just see an Escape slipping all four tires launching against that unsuspecting Camaro owner? :lol:
 
Or the guys that stuck an 03 cobra motor in a focus, and made it RWD.

Sounds like your a little defensive with the probe. That weekend in jail didn't go so well for ya I take it. HAHA

it was a gen3 sho, I think it didnt have the cams welded and ruined itself so he put a 4.6 in, I don't think he got it running though, I'll look for the link

I think he just swapped the whole subframe over or some such thing, a 4.6 gen 4 sable wagon would be pretty sweet
 
lmao a "saleen" windstar. kinda reminds me of the saleen focuses i see aroun d here from time to time. anyone know what gives with those? is it just a trim package from the dealer or what?

The Windstar is a real Saleen. Tim Allen had Steve Saleen build it special for him. Kinda like his old Fox Mustang with the Thunderbird nose he had Saleen build for him.
