Step one: Get fat like me
Step two: Get old car
Step three: Plop into the seat and repeatedly accelerate fast
Step four: break seat

Yeah, I am taking it in Tuesday to be welded at the shop thats gonna do my exhaust whenever I can stop fixing crap and buy the damn exhaust. :(
Was gonna do the exhaust and sway bar this pay day but between needing a new power steering hose and the welding and oil change I can only get the sway bar and the exhaust pipes this check.
 
very common with the gen 2 tracks. i have two that look just like it! i have seen them welded though and they break along the new weld! crap design.
 
I would fix that myself, open drill 2 wholes on each end and put a metal peace underneath with 4 screws with nuts and be dont with it, but thats just me.

Its not flat there. It broke right where the bracket bends down. Cab see that its a weak point as the seat back attatcment is welded right there and thats where all the pressure is.
Just gonna have it welded and not just plop down in the seat.
At least I learned how simple it is to replace the leather on these things! I pulled up mine because the metal support bar had worn through the foam cushion and I wanted to rig it up so I used some duct tape to reform the foam over it. :D
 
4 bolts and nuts wont fix that!!!!! that crack supports the entire back of the seat frame, when a track breaks like that, and you get in the car, the left side of the upper seat frame lays back almost to the rear seat, the actual seat tracks plays a large part of the whole frame of the seat, if the track breaks like that, it messes up the whole seat, it has to be welded or replaced, but welding it makes it weak, and it will break easier down the road than a track that hasnt been repaired. but no way with a few bolts fix it, not when it is all structure support where the track snapped.
 
I am sorry for you. That happened to my uncle in his crapillac when he sat it in it but he weighs 350 pounds.
 
Well got it welded today and its better then its been since I owned it. There used to be this "squeak squeak squeak" that cam from somewhere around the bottom of the door on the drivers side. Guess it was a section of that crack rubbing before it broke all the way through.
Dude only charged $10, then again it took him less then 60 seconds... literally. :lol: Nice clean weld though and I look foreword to them doing my exhaust.

I figured I would go ahead and replace that leaking power steering hose too. I hate any drips from my cars. Was a minor PITA. The job is easier if you actually read the bottle before filling it back up. I was thinking that I have never seen blue power steering fluid before so I looked at the bottle and realized I was using "Bar Oil" for my chain saw. :mad:
So I had to disconnect the lines and drain it all. That will learn me. :lol:
 
My Gen II did that. I could drop the rear of the seat all the way down so the frame was resting close to the floor (bottomed out) and it would feel much better and more solid, but of course it would still flex.
The bolt method worked for me for a while. I did this in my old t-bird but it was from recieving certain fun by a certain female leaning over the center console that was attached to the seat. Too much weight (though not really) too often oscilating up and down:shifty:
