I just got back from the dealer and what a pain in the ass they are. I dont understand why they cant act like normal people. Anyway they are offering me $6200 for my LS which is due to it having 110k miles. Thats less than what i owe but i think i'd take it just to get rid of the LS. Im looking at the MKX, not bad looking and they actually drive fairly well. I'm waiting to hear back from "Caeser", and i'm most likely not going to accept whatever their first offer is. No pressure on me as the LS is at this time still getting me from point A to point B.

They just want to make the most money they can when they go to sell it at wholesale or on their used car lot. I would put it on Craigslist if I were you. It's a nice looking car and you would get more money from a private sale. I just paid 18k for my '06 just a few months ago.

Sell the damn car yourself. Odds are you one of those people who whine that it takes too much effort to seel their own but then whine even more when the dealer rapes them for the trade.

But hey, you'll save 6% Sales tax, or about $512 by trading it in instead of getting $1500 or more selling it yourself.

Then again, they are probably showing you $6200 off list which means you are actually getting about $3000 cash for the car.

We had a saying back in the day in the car business. There is an ass for every seat. ;)

I think that "may" apply here.

Thanks for the input but i'm not "whining" about a damn thing. The $6200 offered is exactly what the book value is with the deduction for the excessive mileage. I am quite pleased with the $6200 offer seeing the LS has a piss poor value these days. The issue is that the offer of $6200 is less than the payoff so that makes the deal alittle harder to manage. According to them Ford Motor Credit doesnt exactly favor a negative equity trade in. I could very easily list the car on craigslist or any other autotrader type listing and probably break even with what i owe or make alittle extra, but then i would be without a car while still dicking around with the dealer on a new car purchase. Like i have said, the LS has gotton on my nerves but its still a decent car to do my daily driving. If i truly felt my LS would last until 140k miles without any major repairs than that would be the ideal situation.

Good luck with any car! Define "major repair".

Well for starters the coils which i'm on my third set. But as with any car as you push past 100k the odds of some kind of failure is going to become greater and greater. Sure there are cars out there with over 200k miles but they are the exception and not the norm. My rule of thumb regardless of how well i like the car is once you get past the 100k mark its time to move on. I loved both my Trans Am's but once they both got over 100k they still drove fine but i decided to move on. Cars are expendable to me. With most new cars coming with 100k mile warranty's it makes sense to me to have that peace of mind that all i need to do is wash it, change the oil and buy new tires from time to time. It seems most of you are die hard LS fanatics but to me its just a car. I drove the MKX and i'm sure once i owned it i would be just as happy with it as i was with the LS. Enjoyment of a car to me goes further than just beating some asswipe at a stoplight or top speed and handling.

when are you selling this car so the whining stops?

Hey, if your old ass car with bolt on crap makes you happy then good for you. I see so many people like yourself that are so full of themselves and their cars i just laugh at them. Its like you define your life and self worth by the car you drive and its just funny. Having a truly classic muscle car is one thing, but a Lincoln thats been fiddle f*cked with doesnt impress me in the least bit. I dont care what your horsepower is or what kind of track times you achieved, you can polish a turd to a nice shine but its still a turd.

wow - sorry - this is site of enthusiasts. I understand you want to talk about your feelings, how your shoes don't match your eyeliner and every 28 days your are even more touchy.... I get it.

When are you selling your car?

Well for starters the coils which i'm on my third set.

Well, I had to replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser on my '65 Mustang yearly. The coil every couple of years. If replacing the coils-on-plug is your complaint it is time to move on. Don't be surprised if any new, highly technical vehicle has some of the same issues.

Dude, solve your problem and move on.

I hate this car as well, but im beginning to know it like the back of my hand and the payments are dirt cheap so that makes it better. I use it for what it is, a 4 door grocery getter and a point A to point B.

I'm lucky(?) enough to get to drive mercedes benz's all day. Other day i was driving on the highway in a brand new c300 with under 3,000 miles on it. seats and headrests were shaking from the tires. it makes me feel better when i see these $$$ cars doing what my car does. makes it feel more "normal"

Honest to god if you want a good reliable car that doesnt break down often, rides good and gets good mileage. look at a civic or nissan altima. Its the boring cars that seem to do that the best. Any car that you beat on or drive "agressively" will be problematic. so i dont know what to really tell you.

If i had the money id be looking at a brand new nissan maxima, anyone else find those sexy? all im really saying is a new MKX isnt really the best car either, and you will probably not like it after 3 years same as your LS now.

Also...My bike keeps me sane and puts the LS into perspective. Its slow, people walk around that fact, but its without a doubt slow. maybe you should put your money into a project car, something with a big aftermarket.

Its not the point of having to replace them. My problem is the sh!tty ass design flaw of the system and the coils. How can a dumb ass Dodge Intrepid with 108k miles on it still be running fine with the original coils yet a "luxury" car cant have a single coil that lasts a whole year. Sure every car has things that wear out and need replacing, but the damn coils on the LS are the biggest crock of sh!t i have ever seen in a car, and its not like its cheap or easy to keep replacing them. You cant compare the the ease of working on a '65 Stang and the cramped engine compartment of the LS. They make cars nowadays that the average owner just cant do the repairs that could be done on older cars.

trilbk - didn't you say in the other thread you would take the money - gladly?

QuickLS...yea i did. but not to put down on a new car. if i could use it towards something around 10-12k$ i would. I think my post said that too. But also like i said, im beginning to know it like the back of my hand, i know the condition of everything on it, i know where my fluids are at. sometimes its not worth it to get rid of that knowledge and start all over, you know?

the LS actually has a few things that are easier to work on than other cars. Consider the fuel pump, that can be replaced in about a half hour lol. it has its design flaws for sure. but every car has something that is a B!TCH to work on you know?

I pray (knock on wood) that my hydraulic fan doesnt go. I literally just knocked on wood lol thats how scared of it i am. Luxury cars arnt all what they are cracked up to be. About the only decent luxury car i can think of is lexus. MB's are horrid. they eat tires about every 12,000miles. and those tires arnt cheap. your intrepid lasts longer because its a simple car. it has less working parts if you know my meaning. the Ls has more options then a BMW 5 series, and a 5 series is a maintence nightmare if anything breaks.

Buy an ES300 if you want a good car with options. or an acura TL. The fact that you are complaining about a lincoln and then you are looking to get another lincoln makes no sense to me.

and.... most new car are just as difficult and expensive to work on - period.

exactly...thats why im saying if you want something that is good your probably going to be looking at a simple car that isnt over 20grand and has base options.

right - I totally agree with you. it just came across like you were supporting poor old Fla02LS issues with sand in his c*nt, whining about not taking action to solve his own problems. We are actually trying to help him - to find his inner man.

Na i wasnt fighting with you or disagreeing with you or agreeing with fla02 at all. Thats one of my issues right now actually. There is no cars on the market that i actually want to spend money on lol. Like i said i know this car and where it sits mechanically. if i get a "new" car it will be used, and ill start all over again. The only thing that actually strikes me as something i want is a Base model dodge ram or a trailblazer. 4wd would be good cuz i think we can all agree this car isnt the best in snow.

or an LS1/ls6 fbody...

if you wanna play you gotta pay. If you dont wanna play, then your stuck in an econo SHlT-box

you got it- you bought a $45k car - now you didn't pay that for it but...

I own several cars that are very old - some sold for a lot of money new, I bought them cheap - but guess what? they have maintenance habits of former expensive cars.... - go figure!

Your f*cking ignorant or just stupid. Every "problem" i have had with my car i have "solved". I've replaced my own fuel filter, change my own oil, replaced my own dccv, replaced my own degas bottle and had plenty other issues fixed under warranty. It isnt an issue of whether or not i can or want to solve my own problem. If i cant fix it myself i have no problem paying the money to get it fixed. Its an issue of sh!tty designed coils that constantly fail. I have owned eight total vehicles and the LS is THE only car that has had the exact same problems over and over and over. The problems arent exclusive to me and my car. Your the one with your panties in a bind if my posts actually bother you. Read it if you feel the need and move on.

sorry - i'm not trying to embarrass you or make you denfensive...

when are you selling the LS and moving on?

or are you still just complaining about not moving on?

Getting "embarassed" on an internet forum by a screenname isnt going to happen, sorry.
After i get back into town next week i will continue my quest in ridding myself of the LS. "Moving on" is an absolute promise and if you'd feel any better i'll make sure your the first one that i'll break the news too.

don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...

that would be embarrassing...

lawl.

I dunno, to me the same problem that keeps occuring is kind of a good thing. takes the guess work out of it. you can throw 200$ at it a year in coils, or throw who knows how much money a year at another car in repairs. atleast the Ls is consistant lol

i think we need to make a weekly "i hate my LS of the week" sticky hahaha. i bet that thread would be great.
