Just got back from dealer....

i think we need to make a weekly "i hate my LS of the week" sticky hahaha. i bet that thread would be great.

nope - that would be like a "stay at home wives complaining about their big asses thread...". We do not need a 'post my feelings thread' - jeez us.

kinda self-defeating - in a emo cutting on myself way. fix it or sell it - but freaking enjoy it either way - for the love.

don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...

that would be embarrassing...

Please, i never joined here to make friends and get to know people. My interest was gaining info and tips about a car i newly owned. This forum has served its purpose for me over the last few years. WHEN i no longer own a LS i will in no way shape or form miss the forum or feel any urge to return and i'm sure i wont be missed either. If you want to be a lifetime member to give your input then im happy for you. It'll be a win win situation for everyone once i have a new vehicle in my drivway, i'll be happy with a new ride and you'll never have to hear my poor whining ever again. Only a matter of time.

You should just drive it until it's paid for. Then drive it at least another 1-2 years. The best car is one that's paid off. Plus you won't have to worry about negative equity.

How can a dumb ass Dodge Intrepid with 108k miles on it still be running fine with the original coils yet a "luxury" car cant have a single coil that lasts a whole year.

Even more so, I still have a 95 Chrysler LHS (formerly New Yorker) that is still on it's original coils so I agree that Ford failed on this design. But that (and a couple other minor flaws) aside I think the LS is one of the top performance cars Ford ever build.

drive it until it's paid for
is no a bad option, it is cheaper than $400 - $500 monthly car payments. It's all in what you want though, I wouldn't mind driving a MKX myself but I don't want to give up the 04 LS yet as I am still enjoying it too much.

Hey, if your old ass car with bolt on crap makes you happy then good for you. I see so many people like yourself that are so full of themselves and their cars i just laugh at them. Its like you define your life and self worth by the car you drive and its just funny. Having a truly classic muscle car is one thing, but a Lincoln thats been fiddle f*cked with doesnt impress me in the least bit. I dont care what your horsepower is or what kind of track times you achieved, you can polish a turd to a nice shine but its still a turd.

Well, both (04 and 06) of my LS's are fully paid for. You may not understand someone taking pride in their older cars, but I can't understand anyone having a car that they owe more than it is worth, and then trading it on another car that they will be even more underwater on.

Its not the point of having to replace them. My problem is the sh!tty ass design flaw of the system and the coils. How can a dumb ass Dodge Intrepid with 108k miles on it still be running fine with the original coils yet a "luxury" car cant have a single coil that lasts a whole year. Sure every car has things that wear out and need replacing, but the damn coils on the LS are the biggest crock of sh!t i have ever seen in a car, and its not like its cheap or easy to keep replacing them. You cant compare the the ease of working on a '65 Stang and the cramped engine compartment of the LS. They make cars nowadays that the average owner just cant do the repairs that could be done on older cars.

And yet you say you want to buy another Lincoln...... What's your logic here? I was 16 when I bought my LS and I've installed lowering springs, fixed the vcg's, coils, and plugs, installed stainless steel brake lines, flushed the entire system, swapped out the pads and rotors, installed a cat back magnaflow exhaust, installed a cai, installed angel eyes, swapped out the sunroof that my brother broke the brace on, changed out the steering wheel, countless oil changes and random other things. I also own a 5.0 Stang and 69 Mustang Mach 1 that I'm currently restoring... so what exactly is it that the average owner can fix on a classic car that they can't do on an LS?

Wow. The Dodge comment was just asinine. How can a much :q:q:q:qtier car, with way less to it, that rides crappier, drives slower, and sucks hard, be cheaper to maintain than a luxury car with decent features & power??? I have no idea, man!

But come to think of it, I never had a heated seat motor blow out on my Avenger...

After reading all these posts, I have noticed one thing and I'm not calling anyone out either. For starters a MKX costs more than a new Maxima, I know this because I was looking at the MKX yesterday with my girl and my friend just got a new Maxima and I took him to pick it up. Average Maxima on the lot 35,000 average MKX on the lot 46,000. The second thing I noticed is that the LS is the nicest car most of the people on here have ever owned. Not saying all but most. The Ls is essentially unchanged from 2003, so you are driving around in a 7 year old design as far as drivetrain and some other updates. The body itself is a 10 year old design. So it is an old car any way you look at it. Old technology, The new Lincolns any better? I would say yes, from my personal experience. As far as other new luxury cars, you can't compare a LS to them. That's like saying the new 5 series BMW is still the same one from 98 that Lincoln tried to compete with. The 5 series has been updated 3 times since the LS launch, With new body styling and engine upgrades, almost a whole different car. I never imagined my LS being the best car in the world nor is it the worst. It is what it is an affordable luxury car. If you want the best you gotta spend the money, and expensive cars have expensive repairs.

^^what he said...

and add another 10 points to the maxima shining over the mkx since its cheaper, more sportey, and probably gets better gasmilage even while preforming better.

all in all...get a maxima and STFU ;)

I'm not saying that an Intrepid is a fantastic car but it has lasted on long time with basically no repair needs, BUT... other than rwd what exactly does a 2001 LS V6 offer that makes it so asinine compared to the 2001 Intrepid? Heated seats....could care less, i live in Florida. Horsepower...about equal. Better weight ratio so it handles better, sure but my wife drives it around with our son, i highly doubt she cares about its corning abilities. So you tell me how a 1st gen V6 LS is soooo much more of a car. Please, fill me in... because i owned a 1st gen V6 and it wasnt all that. The Intrepid was bought as a "family" car that had a great crash test rating and a huge trunk, all leather, climate control, traction control, 6 disc Infinity sound, sunroof, power everthing, auto stick shifting, decent power. Doesnt seem asinine to me.

If you have ever been inside a MKX you might think different. Alot of guys on here are young single guys. Im 34 yrs old and married with a 6 yr old. There comes a time when "sporty" and that cool factor wears off and you think more about whats best for the family. If it was all about me i'd have a Vette or something along those lines and not looking for a crossover, but its not all about me at this point.

Plus the MKX and Edge scored in the top 10 (or 15) in choice picks for Winter Driving (w/o snow tires). I just dislike some features and I'd still rather have a Aviator over a MKX......maybe a MKZ....f*ck it I'm picky with vehicles :P

I really liked the Aviator too and was disappointed to see it disappear, although it was fairly trouble prone with some electronic issues. The MKZ is moving parallel to the LS and i am wanting to move into a crossover for family purposes. The MKS is alittle too much of a land yacht and the Navigator is huge as well. My one dislike about the MKX is the driver visability is pretty crappy. The rear window is hard to see out of and the side visability isnt much better, but it really drives nice.

P.S. - Not too much winter driving issues here in Florida but would probably do well in rain.

I have an Aviator, it is about to turn 80,000 miles, only problem I have had is the coils, and keeping gas in it.

Wow...Imagine that. Lincoln----coils?? Who'd figure?? Like i said i really liked the Aviator and almost got one when i went from my '02 LS to the '05 LS. I dont recall exactly what the issues were but there was something with sensors or some form of electrical issues being common, there may have been some recalls or TSB's about them. I think a new Aviator styled like the new Navigators would have been sharp looking.
