I am sure you long timers have seen this but it looks like it would save some coin by ordering one of these systems instead of having an exhaust shop make them with press bends.

I would still have to have them mare the pipe to go from the cats to the new 2.5" x-pipe resonator but this would make the rest a cinch.

Why are press bends that much of a hinderance to performance?

Price is ok, but my shop is doing the pipes and the install for the price that guy is charging just for the pipes.

so what have you decided on? are you planing on getting one? if you do let me know! i went to Meineke and they qouted me @400 for bending and install along with the xx pipe and expansion mufflers from LMS.

I paid just under 250 for everything. I watched him bend all the pipes rite there and he took a few hours but it got done.

I am about 2 months away from ordering everything at once. I want to do all the suspension component braces at the same time and also I am deciding if i want to do KYB shocks/struts or the Tokico Blues.
I think the local shop would charge me another $150-$200 to make the pipes from the cats to the resonator and expand the flange on the SCP mufflers. So its not a ton cheaper as I figured without those pipes it would be closer to $400 for the install.
As soon as I have it done though I will post up step by step pictures in a new thread.

I want the mufflers SCP has that are stainless with the dual oval tips. I like the way they sound with the x-pipe resonator he sells from Magnaflo I believe.

The mufflers are only $79 each and another $89 for the x-pipe/resonator. Sounds like a better deal to me plus LMS does not have the resonator I want.
I want the car to have a little more growl when I stomp on it but dont want it to be too loud and will not take any drone.

Down the road as funds permit I will order the Kooks 3/4 headers from SCP and a pair of high flow 2.5" cats to finnish it off. Should be worth 25 horses all together and have a nice tone without being obnoxious. :D

I'm curious, if the Mustang is more performance oriented persay, how come mustang guys usually stick with the stock 2 1/4" exhaust pipes as opposed to switching to 2 1/2"?

Unless you're going FI I'm not understanding upping your pipe diameter to 2 1/2". I thought the larger the pipe, the lower the torque but vice versa for hp. Isn't torque what these things really need?

All Mustang guys I know (and its allot) all use 2.5" systems. Usually they start with a 2.5" cat back then they do an H or X pipe in 2.5" and then headers last. The engines need the better flow and its more so in the 4V. I have built five 4V engines and two used 3" exhaust but both were blown "C" head cars.
With my 96-98 Cobras I used 2.5" and after 5K you can really feel the difference in power, its quite large as these engines love to breath.
I have never noticed a decrease in low RPM TQ as a result eaither.

Also in answer to the mandrel bend question: It does make a difference as a press bend will cause restrictions in the system. Granted its minute and may only cost a single HP but since mods are so limited on this car I want to squeeze every bit I can from what I can do. :D

DAMMIT!! I already purchased my mufflers and resonator in 2 1/4" form. They're not on the car yet, but I doubt the guy will swap them for me. This sucks!

whats your name and what all have you done to your markviii? just getting general ideas

Our complete kit system is $299.00 shipped for non Gold members, and $279.99 for Gold members & has zero drone, you do not need a resonator, have you heard our system in person to even judge it?

Our sloagan in our commercial is "They will never hear your coming but always hear you leaving" meaning quite simply she is quiet until you romp on it.

BTW Kooks headers ad maybe 7-9 hp with a cat back. 7-10 hrs in labor and you think it will be quiet? You MUST hear a cat back with the headers, man its unreal LOUD.

geno i need to know if i were to bring my car up there how much for the lms kit nad installe dout the door?`

So if I understand this corectly I can get the whole system ready to bolt in from the cat back with all the pipes, hangers and mufflers for $299 shipped from you? That sounds like a killer deal to me! The sound is great and it looks nice. I preferred the oval tips but for that cost I can get over it. LOL!

I am not a big fan of installing headers on modular engines because its a major PITA to do and I have only ever gotten 7 hp from doing it. If I decide not to supercharge the car though then I want to squeeze as much HP as I can from it. Granted the long tubes will be the absolute last mod.

I have done three on Mustangs and every time the car was quieter with Long tubes than with the stock headers. All used off road h-pipes too before and after. Guess the extreamly long pipes and the mufflers at the end cause the Mark to be louder by comparison?

Good to know cause that would keep me from getting them. I like some growl but also want the car to be quiet while crusing around.

I will order the exhaust in the next two weeks if I understood you correctly.
And what do I need to become a Gold Member? Quote from that Austin Powers movie? :D

Its on Summer Special intalled for $649.99 installed. Includes polyurethane bushed hardened steel hangers and galvinized 2.5 inch piping.

10 year warranty for welds, pipes, hangers & workmanship and the components are LIFETIME. We also just got a Eaton Leonard Tooling computerized bender and the bends are sick now, super clean!!!

This is the critical components. No piping included. Most istalls I have heard of in the US have been anywhere from $175.00 to $400.00!! Depends on the shop.

So its the mufflers and double x pipe? I still need to have pipes made to go from the x pipe to the mufflers? Do the x-pipes mate right up to the cats or does more pipe need to be added? I would like 2.5" from the cats back so down the road its nice and easy (not really easy) to slap on some 3/4 headers and some 2.5" high flow cats.

Thanks for the info.:headbang:
