Can a Gen 2 (97-98)trunk fit a Gen 1 (93-96) Mark VIII?

I'm trying to get creative, yes, I'm aware of what I'm saying, but I would love to know, does the Generation 2 (97-98)trunk with the neon light fit a Gen 1 (93-96) Mark VIII? Were there any changes done around the back of the car that makes it diferrent & not a dirrect bolt on replacement? Any & all help is appreciated. Thanks.

the rear quarters are totally different, only way to make the trunk lid work is to cut the back of the car off and weld on a gen 2 rear clip. good luck with that waste of time lol!

Ofcourse if this is what u say then I won't be touching it. I wont waste my time on this. Simply thought about the possibility of making the car look nicer.

yup no way just the lid would fit, well MAYBE it would "fit" but not line up at all (as long as hinges and latch line up )

See thats the thing, I'm not worried about the lights in the rear lighting up but the trunk ofcourse must. If it's too much of a stupid project then I wont even touch it.

I thought the rear quarters were the same, and it was the lids and side marker light areas that were different? Didn't somebody put a genII lid on a genI and just smooth over the side markers? I figured you could graft the rear section of the quarters and the lid would line up ok?

more work than just getting a 2nd Gen and putting a 1st Gen LSC Front on it and play with a Sniper Tuner or a SCT Tuner
