Painted Calipers and a few pics

First I would like to point out that after about 8 months of being pissed at my significant other I finally got my side of the garage back. I threatened to call one of those trash hauling places to just come clean it out. She finally relented and called a resale place to come pick up all the old furniture. I am much happier now

And, since the wife is out of town it is the perfect time to paint my calipers. So I put the car on jackstands and took off all 4 wheels.

I used the brush-on Duplicolor kit. The results are decent. Just don't get too close. Here's the rear

Here is the front with the wheel on. The curb-rash came with the car.

And finally, here's my car after a solid spring cleaning. I spent the time waiting between coats of caliper paint applying wax. It could still use a professional detailing.

Oh, and sorry about the crappy cellphone pics. The wife has the camera with her in Ireland.

Good job man, I wanna do the same thing. i just orderd my R1 pro performance rotors and SS brake lines today so hope to do that too once I put them on :-D

It was very easy. If you use the Duplicolor kit use a different brush. The bristles kept falling out and getting on the calipers. Don't be skimpy with the paint - there is plenty of it.

I didn't think that far into it. I used the one in the box and it sucked. If I had it to do over again I'd probably go to Home Depot and find a good quality narrow brush.

good to know....I want a flush flat black look for my calipers.....I still needs find out what new wheels I want...I need to find out from my dealer if Antera rims come in a 5x108 bolt pattern...who wouldn't love this:

some insight on painting calipers since I have done MANY sets now.

The duplicolor brush on kit is by far the best out there for lasting! The finish does leave some room for desire, but adding some sanding and prep work to the job can get better a finish. I like to use a flap wheel on a drill to get em good and clean (and smooth)

once that brush on stuff is dry it stays damn near for ever. I use the VHT caliper spray over it to get a higher gloss finish and then high temp (1200 deg) clear on top of that. You can go really nuts and polish it after if you want, but I've never cared that much. Also, its a couple bolts to remove the calipers. Spend the extra 5 minutes and take em off. The results are much better!!!! Plus if you bake them for at 400 for 1.5 hours they tend to withstand the heat better.

Rainjacks man, looks good. Time for that rotorpros kit to dress the rotors now.

where exactly do you put the jack stands?? ive had mine on jackstands and apparently not in the right place because they actually bent the bottom of my gen 1 .. she is sold now and dont want this to happen to new one. pics would be great

Depends on the color.

White, Silver, and black would probably look the best since they are such plain colors but anything else may just be going over board.

Also I just thought about this and even then it could come down to the wheel. I myself wouldn't be able to make silver rotors work since I also have silver wheels on a silver car. To much Silver.

I just did the wifes silver car. She has flat black rims so the only option IMO was a flat black set of breaks

I say just do silver on the rotors. White wont look right and I think that would add to much black.
