Can anyone tell me if the Gen 1 V8 and Gen 2 V8 intake manifolds are interchangable?

I don't think they are. I've read at several forums that Gen 1 intakes actually are BETTER even though you'd think they where not, just by appearance.

Cause cars are like ppl....when you get older your intake will be Prune juice and Loneliness!

they are not interchangeable from one stock motor to another. It MAY be possible to swap, but other things would have to be changed like the fuel injectors for example.

right - the ports should match - however - lots of work moving all the connections - intake, throttlebody, egr, vacuum, throttle cable....

then the issue of the air assist rail being deleted.

I can't say for sure that the throttlebody itself is the same size from Gen1 to Gen2 - so not sure that you can put a Gen1 TB on the Gen2 intake manifold.

I will agree that they are not. But, for whatever you are working on I am sure that the gen1 is the intake you want to test with. :shifty:

All I need it for is like the port spacing and everything to figure some stuff out, I could careless about the plenum area really..

I dunno, the heads on the Gen 2 have that VVT stuff. Although that wouldn't necessarily mean the ports are different, I think they would be different enough that it wouldn't work without some reshaping.

the VVT is handled by 'phasing' the cam gear using a solenoid that is in the top of the timing chain cover. so no actual changes to the valve train that I know of.

Why do you think the power/mileage is better in the gen2 vs gen1. At least that's what I suspected for the better performance.....hell even the Audi 2.0T had 200HP/207TQ without VVT in last year's models to this year with VVT it has 211HP/255TQ........I would assume unless certain engine components were reeplaced in these cars with better ones along with the VVT......

throttle by wire, no air assist fuel injectors, different intake and exhaust mani, different gearing.... yeah the two arent the same car at all!

forgot huh..... roight

I already told you its ok to not know something. The air assist injectors for example is something many mechanics dont know.

Well I never had been in or known too much of the Gen2 beyond just looks and the eletronic Ebrake and the change in engine.....but as you explained...much much more......

Maybe you have-and just forgot.
