Is the First Gen Boost Friendly???

Looks like it had rolled over some and only the motor was still good so they took the motor out and some of interior too...

It was railed HARD in the pass side enough to bend the car  For some reason they where like it's a Terminator like it was gold or something
This how it looked before it left and he put another 8G's into having it repaired. So he ended up having 16G's and a salvage title on this thing??

What the hell do you do?
I waste way to much money on cars and loose when I sell em :(

Keep your eyes open for wrecked cobras. They go pretty cheap. I found some on copart.com a while back and they went for around 5k give or take.

Beware of Coparts as I have got a car from there and it came with a salvage title which makes it nearly worthless in NJ. They aren't exactly truthful with the details on whats there and you get hit up with a ton of surcharges!!

I thinks He's talking about Pulling the Motor:shifty:

You can look around this site as they turn up some interesting stuff from time to time.

The main reason for getting away from the "B" heads is that only the Cobra intake has a clean way to get a S/C plumbed into it. The "C" heads offer more variety.

Exhaust cams are the same, intake cams have little less duration then cobra cams.IIRC mark viii cams are very similar to 03 + dohc cams[cobra ,mach1,aviator ,marauder]

And it has a warrenty. :D

Honestly, the Mach motor is just as good as the Termi's. Just the rod's arn't as tough as the termi.

Bottom line is, the Mach motor can handle around 500rwhp. The Termi can push 600rwhp on the factory motor. But who really pushes how far a stock motor will go? :) If you know your going to make big power, swap out the weak parts.
Mach 1 engine is just as weak as any other year 4.6 dohc engine except 03-04 cobra.Stock Terminator engine can handle way more then 600 rwhp ,check this out Click here

93... do you know what the difference is between Mark and Cobra cams?

well i dont exactly study cams specs and profiles.. But I believe the exhaust cams are the same and intake duration or lift was slightly increased on cobras.. From what I hear 96-98 cobra cams are the best for n/a and boosted apps.. I've seen plenty of mod guys build 400+ hp motors on stock 96-98 cobra cams.

You !*DO NOT*!, want to buy an "aluminator" longblock from Ford. Head over to www.svtperformance.com. There are ALOT of people thathave bought them, and found that they are having problems with the crank set too far back in the block. Causing the crank balancer to grind away the front timing cover.

Ford "warranty" is piss poor to say the least.

Actually from what I have been told it's the exhaust cam from the Cobra that you want and the intakes is the same. It was on the 96-98 like you said but I have been looking for a set of exhaust cams to put into my spare engine.

I also have a spare set of B heads for sale if any one is looking for a set to modifiy?

The best block out there aside the GT aluminum engine is all the Mark Teksid blocks. Our blocks are good to 1500 crank HP.

I have built 6 Lightning iron blocks that pushed 600 to 800 on pump and race gas. I did not like the finish on the blocks when there where delivered from the factory however. Very rough machining on them :(

the cobra vs mark 8 cam durations and lifts are the same
one of the two cams is retarded 3 degree's.

If I remember correctly and I may not.. the cobra intake cam is retarded three degrees to increase top end power.

I know what blocks are strong,I thought we're talking about stock engines not blocks. .I was talking about stock engines just like they came from factory. That Cobra in a video I posted is running stock engine. There is a guy on our local boards that hit 9's in his 97 cobra using stock non forged internals.

Yeah and no now, the problem is a forged internals engine is stronger but not better as was proven by one of my tuners. It's not a Fomoco product but it has glass pistons and rods like the Mark VIII engine has. He was able to use Water/Meth injection along with stock 550cc injectors to make the car pull a 10.42@135:eek:

I was shocked that he was able to get a stock engine that had never even had the valve covers off do that!

I mean you should be able to take a set of used TDO4 turbo's for like $80 a pop off of EBAY and make a stock Mark engine do 500HP at the crank. It is just getting a good tuner and having the money for chassis dyno R&D time :(

Now it's getting interesting...Stock Mark engine doing 500HP at the crank???...I would like to know if it's done and how and with what too......

From what I have witnessed in the past was cast piston cars hitting detonation in boost and breaking ring lands. Bad case they broke rods.

Now that water/meth has been experimented with and used it's a completely different story. They installed a Aquamist kit on a stock engine and boosted it to a 10.42 in the quarter

Heck I want to put an Aquamist kit on my car as it sits stock so I can run regular pump gas without the fear of detonation anymore :p

Is this in your WRX?

Almost an I wish but I have a forged piston engine factory so I should be able to make quite a bit more out of mine. Well thats when I get enough money to get myself an Aquamist system

Thats my car as it came back from having the twin disc clutch replaced and the 4th through 6th syncros replaced.

So is the Mark your DD?

Yes and I am BENT right now
I heard some metal on metal sounds yesterday coming home so I felt the brakes this morning when it was all cold. The back of the pass side rear brake rotor felt destroyed. I take off the tire and again the caliper is frozen in one position! I order a new caliper and rotor shelling out $101 that I didn't really want to be spending today.
allparts.jpg

OK new brakes on but notice my tires aren't really snow tires for this time of year. Anyway I go to turn in the core and hit the post office, I leave the post office (right next to the police station) and make a right. Well there is a cop just sitting there not moving and no flashers on? So I go around him and he starts following me  2 blocks and he pulls me over for get this, a license plate light that is out. Don't give me a chance to fix it just gives me a $59 dollar ticket on it

I get home and look at the thing, give it a punch and it comes on!! So yeah I am pleading not guilty on this one as he didn't even give me a chance to look at it and see what the hell was wrong!

that isn't a tire for any time of year.

if you look real close.. you can see the damned air inside the thing
lol

Yeah they used to be on my WRX but one got wasted. So I put them on the front 17" rims I was running on my Mark. Then I got a flat so now there on the back and now that it's snowing out, well there snow tires....
