Jacking up the Mark

ok, so i know theres specific jacking points, but my car is dropped on 1.5 coils on stock wheels.. its hard to get a jack underneath there. i think the jack pushed up under the pass floor a bit.

how do i fix this - im thinking a piece of wood and a hammer would do the trick cuz its bent a big ya know.

also how do i jack my car up to avoid this, because its so low getting a jack under there is a problem.

Use a scissor jack to get car up enough to fit a proper jack under. When i jack up my car, i only jack off the K member and / or the rear suspension mounts. (see the lift points info to understand what i mean) I then use four axle stands to support the car AND i put the wheels underneath. NEVER work on an unsupported car!

cool, ok ill do that from now on... any idea with the pushed up part where i jacked incorrectly, hammer and piece of wood sounds like a good idea, im sure im not the only one whos dont this before. at least i hope not!

Can you take a pic? Wanna see if its actually bent or if its just the curvature of the car's floor. Plus, if it is bent, be useful to see how badly.

before I got my car I don't think it had ever been jacked properly, that thin metal strip that runs along the sides underneath is bent and mangled every which way. I'll admit, I did it a few times when I first got it, the doors wont even open when you do it that way I'll probably take a pair of pliers and fix it the best I can.

That strip was destroyed on my car too. I used a hammer and toe dolly to straighten it out, and then reinforced it so I could use it as a lift point.

Mine mangled too! Its gotta be those darn chain and tire change stores who employ morons who don't give a damn about people's cars.

I've used the large beams that run the length of the car's midsection on each side.

The fuel lines (passenger) and brake lines (driver) run alongside them, so be mindful of the proximity of your jack(stands) to those lines when lifting.

That's exactly what I do as well! Always better to be safe than sorry.

I want to buy some really nice low profile ramps, they make some really low ones.

When mine was stock height the full sized ramps worked well, Now that I'm lowered I either sit on the front end to get it up & then shut off the air ride switch, or do what I said earlier with the jack.

BTW, I think it's easier to get the oil filter out on jackstands vs. ramps. It moves the sway bar just enough to make it that much easier.

mine is lowered too all i do is place some scrap pieces of 2x6 board at the front tires and drive up onto them, gets a floor jack under everytime piece of cake!
