Amp bypass harness didn't work Now what?

I tried one of those 4 or 5 years ago on my son's 93. Never could get it to work. I think it was the same brand, but not sure. He finally took it to a professional stereo place in Florida, and they bypassed it. It took them about 3 hours and they said it was a nightmare. Never have looked to see what they did, but as I start tearing his car apart, I going to check it out. Most on here will tell you to rewire everything. There are some pretty good audio guys on here.
 
Yes, best way is to rewire for a whole system.. but that's a lot of time and can get pretty expensive. I've got about $400 in wires, but that's 2 sets of Rockford RCAs, and 2 sets of 4 awg power and ground and 100' of 8 awg speaker wire
 
I'm wondering if this is my problem and not the amp after all. The factory head unit went out so the PO threw it in the trunk and said it was making annoying noises and mentioned something like the amp is bad. So just listening to him, I just assumed the amp was bad. After further research on Google, it seems I need to wire up the blue/white remote turn on wire to the harness in order for the external amp to turn on. Could this be my problem and not a bad amp? I hope so, that'd be awesome!
 
amps go bad often, the one in my white car went out so I put the one from my brown car in it...bingo, rockin again. I recently picked up a used amp, same part number, for $25....that's the easy way out. JY's usually ask 50 for used amps

You should have about 60' of speaker wire left over lol. It does add up though. I wouldn't even want to start adding up what I have invested in wire and terminals alone. The best dime I have ever spent was on the MB Quart 5-channel amp. It replaced 2 larger amps and I couldn't be happier with it's sound quality and the size of it.

For the OP, please consider a complete re-wire. It pays off in the end and with the right stuff, it will sound much better. Get everything you need, little by little. You'll finally get there.

Unless they are plated in 24kt gold I highly doubt you spent 400 bucks on wire.

Think I have maybe $90 in wire. 50' OFC 12 awg, 20' Knu OFC 4awg power/ground, 3 sets of 12' Stinger rca's.

If I add in my battery terminals, anl fuse holders, various male/female connectors, distro block and upgraded 4awg power and ground under the hood I'd still be under 160.
