I got a call saying my car was ready from the shop i posted about in my previous post and the ******* originally said my bill would be 350$, he just called and told me he had to order 2 axle seals and 2 differential bearings (which i physically held in my hand and hes saying i never brought him any) and he informed me my bill was not 350 anymore it was 530!!!! 530$ is totally unacceptable in my book if your original price was 350$, he said it wa partially because he had to remove my differential after all the work was done and start over with it because the differential had to get a notch cut in it on each side with a lathe. FUNNY THING IS i told him LITERALLY 3 times i was using a solid axle differential in a IRS rear end and he said he had set up many rear ends this way, seems fishy to me but i REFUSE to pay the bill, im not getting PHUCKED by a greedy mechanic

Before someone's differential has a notch cut into it on a lathe, the customer should be called and also informed that their bill will be $200 more. If I done that type of work, I would have called first to explain what needed to be done and how much more you were looking at having to pay. There might be a chance that I won't get paid...

Theres a chance your gonna here about a pissed off 21 year old with long ass curly hair dragging a scronny bitch ass 45 year old out of his shop by his collar if he wants to try and bull**** with me

Nolimit95- i even WARNED HIM ATLEAST 3 TIMES that he might have that issue before the car was even brought into his shop, i completley agree with everything your saying, but, he should have figured on using the lathe from the get go and the initial price i recieve2d should have reflected that. now hes saying that his price didnt include gear oil either originally so thats why it was for more? what am i supposed to do supply gear oil? or is he the only person in the world changing differential gears with the gear oil as an "option" LOL

My dad had to go get the car with my uncle because he said i was too pissed off to go there around the guy and get it myself, my dad paid the difference and i guess now im paying him back. some mechanics around here are REALLY DUMBASSES, one argued with me and said my mark had TWO fuel pumps and the other was under my back seat in a metal trap door compartment i LOLD and another different guy tried selling me a control arm for 271$ ea hahaha people see im a kid and think im stupid..

New seals, bearings, gears, etc costed me $1200 at the driveline shop here.

And your second fuel pump story is a good one. You should have told that clown your second fuel pump is on a shelf in a warehouse somewhere and you won't need it until the first one dies. Lol. Sounds like he doesn't get enough business to justify the cost of All Data Pro. A few button clicks on that program would have answered that mystery for him. Sounds like he was either just plain dumb or trying to scam you. Glad you put him in his place.

When I put gear in my red one a few years back I supplied the trac lok from supercoupe and friction modifier. The guy quoted me $530 since He insisted new carrier bearings and what not. Installed for $530 and that's with gear that he got FRPP 4.10s. Sorry to here that but him pulling that is bull**** he should've known to begin with all that ****. More labor for an irs

Exactly, and he said he had done the solid axle track-lok to irs MANY times, and said he has done this on marks before. LOL obviously not. i was thinking BS too, i supplied 4.10s, track lok, track lok rebuild kit, gear install kit, balanced 93 driveshaft, and pretty much everything

Except gear lube! LOL

yep you got bent over. and your dad helped him push it in. I dont know if its policy in every state but here in florida you have to sign paperwork authorizing up to a certain amount agree upon before any work starts. also i payed 390 to have my trac-lok and 4.10 gears installed that included all the bushings and oils as well. sorry to hear you got took for a ride.

SOunds like a God damn scammer to me! Bastard's trying to fvck you legally. DO you have a spare set of keys? I'd go overthere & steal my own car! :)
OMG I'd be so pissed!

Don't believe in Ford/Chevy rivalry. I do however stand by domestic/import rivalry. I abide by American made muscle baby!!! I was raised in an all bowtie home until age 16 yet I've always owned Ford. Both are die hard brands IMO. I'm not a huge fan of Mopar but I'd enjoy a nice 60's Charger! Different brands make different cars that are better than the other. I would much rather drive a Ford van than a Chevy van yet I much rather drive a Yukon than an Explorer. Both are die hard but the Yukon looks like a much beefier truck. The Explorer looks like something mom drives to pick up the kids. :)

Now, you show up driving rice & its on!!! :D

Regardless of all that has happened here, you all seem to get some pretty damn good install prices. The driveline shop here wouldn't even let me bring my own parts because it voids the warranty coverage. Like I said, my bill for new ring/pinion, bearing kit, axle seals, install was like $1200 I would be in heaven if I could have them even touch it for $500 I know that doesn't diminish the douchebaggery that occurred, but yeah. I'm jealous. LOL

Machining wasn't needed.

You don't need the circlips on the axles, they are only there for assembly at the factory. I put a stick axle diff into the SVO (with Cobra IRS) using new Mark VIII axles and it's been just fine.

Thats what chris2523 told me also, i was kind of surprised he said it did need machining, i still havent got to go a legit 35 mph WOT in my car yet with the 4.10s either

machining isn't needed. like Saturn5, i've been there and done that.

you should compare the Yukon more to the Expedition/Excursion than the Explorer. a diesel Excursion is about the coolest truck ford ever made.
an Explorer is more like an Envoy. which also looks like a toy.
