Keyless entry keypad for GEN I(?)

Open for discussion, not too sure if this will work or not. But it is definitely something to consider when you're looking to do keyless entry pads for GI LS's.

I'm sure it could be wired to work, but there is an easier, OEM, solution.
Ford sells a wireless code pad that looks similar to the one on gen II. It programs in as if it is just another key remote, so you don't have to wire in a receiver. Just program the keypad and stick it somewhere on the outside of the car.
There are some posts on here about it. Some didn't like it on the driver's door, so they stuck it out of site facing down on the trunk lid (above the license plate I think).

Wow, that's a real nifty place to hide it. On that note, where do most people get their key's cut on here? I managed to cut a key at homedepot for my inlaw's corolla with much frustration. It seems like most lock smiths refuse to cut keys with transponder chips if you bring your own blank key.

I had that one on my gen 1 but that battery died within a year so I took it off and said forget it.

I've only used the dealer and IIRC it was $80 for the key and programing since I only had 1 key.

How much did they charge you?

Once was free and the other was a couple dollars. They weren't sure what to charge as I brought in my own key.
