oil filter aptr gasket struggle

I confess: I'm not a mechanic by trade; I'm a vascular technologist who used to build houses for 20 years; my job gets boring so I f*%k with one of my two my old ass Fords for 'fun'....this one's not my daily driver so it doesn't matter how long it takes
...yep, I pay to replace hoses on a car with 109k miles? yea, I'm a retard...the one thing I didn't do was pay $100/hr to some crooked-ass mechanic to fix this problem and tell me I need to pay him for the other problems he intentionally caused
...again, in hindsight, all I had to do was look at the new gasket (before starting) to be certain where the 4 o.f.a bolts are...

I just want to be clear, I was not calling you a retard. I was just making fun of the fact that something pretty straight forward turned into a big job and there were so many options thrown out there and it seemed like you did a mix of everything. My car still has spring clamps installed on all of the hoses, I like that it makes them look original. When you remove the adapter gasket, there is no gasket material to clean out. That's gasket is a hard formed plastic, and comes out cleanly. All you need to do is remove the bolts, pull the adapter about 1/4 inch slide the old gasket out, and the new one in. It really is that simple. And it can be done with only removing the oil filter. Hell I didn't even use a jack, I just popped off the front height sensors and let it pump the front of the car up high, then turned off the AS switch. Usually takes 15 minutes.

Sir,
Just did my oil filter adaptor on my 1997. Just push the houssing up. Wipe off the back and block and just put the gasket behind the adaptor. Just make sure all bolt are installed and then tightened. Never had to pull the hoses off. Just push housing up and manipulate the gasket to the right spot. Install bolts and then tighten. No leaks, no cut hoses of busted knuckles from clamps. Jeez make it easy on yourself.

+1

1) Remove driver's wheel and oil filter.
2) Drain the coolant.
3) Get the three top bolts that can be seen clearly with an extension through the wheel well.
4) Get the last bottom bolt with a swivel from under the car.
5) Slide the old gasket out, slide the new one in.
6) Put the bolts back in.
7) Replace oil filter & wheel.
8) Refill coolant and bleed system.

Done!

got it, done, kill this mayhem....I missed the third upper bolt initially...
yes, I took the scenic route around my ass in finding my elbow...done it before, will do it again undoubtedly..
