I bought a set of ever so "popular" saleen wheels last august in the 05+ offset.

Two weeks ago while cleaning them, I noticed that the chrome plating on one wheels had damage and I was not a happy camper.

Unsure if I was at fault or what, I checked with American Muscle and found they have a 1 year warranty on the finish, so I gave them a call and the guy told me to take some pics. A few days later I was able to, and today I sent them... unsure of what the guy would say about the damage as they do not warranty road chemicals and the like.

I still dont know what caused this but I dont drive through road chemicals as I plow/salt when its bad out anyway and usually drive diesel ford trucks instead of the Mark. The entire wheel is starting to get this now. Its actually getting progressively worse as the days pass with more and more spots showing on it. A few weeks ago there was 3 spots, today there is over 20.

After being on hold a few minutes the guy told me that It would be 25 bucks to cover shipping and they will send me a wheel free of charge.

Very happy with the customer service there and happy that by Thursday I should have a fresh rim. Highly recommend, even though I must have gotten a defective wheel, they were very fast and easy to deal with about getting me a replacement.

I only had 8 days left of the warranty too. :eek:
 
Yep awesome service from American Muscle. One of my wheels had a tiny pinhole that would allow the tire to go flat over the course of a week. Called them up and new wheel was on the way the next day. I highly recommend them.

just think if you had to find another saleen in 5x108. :eek:
awesome that they take care of people like that.
 
im in the process hub swap an i ordered a pair of 18x9 front black chrome Saleen wheels because i found 2 black chrome Saleen's on cl in NC for cheap and i jumped on it..

thanks lux for the positive feedback about that company

Lux, you got lucky that you found that in time with only 8 days left. When they get the wheel, they'll know the cause, if they don't already. It all could have been in the prep before being chromed. It just didn't adhere very well and I'm sure you're not the only one complaining. All it takes is one bad worker or one bad chemical mix and the whole run of wheels will eventually start peeling but if you only had one wheel doing it, I'd guess it wasn't properly cleaned before being chromed. Glad you're getting a new one for shipping cost.

I wanted to get black chrome but couldn't find em with the 05+ offset

I've been looking for some weld's and Maybe another set of 18s or 19s....that's what's great about stang pattern

that's what I'm guessing...good thing I clean my wheels pretty regularly
 
Good deal for the company doing you right. The problem stems from the inconsistent chroming process since ALL the replicas from from China and it is difficult to keep them consistently GREAT. Thats why I get polished, chasing chrome sucks, btdt. It will fail eventually.
