Went to the strip this evening and was kind of in shock. But She's a heavy car. I have Michelin primacy mxv4 on it now. No cats with glasspacks, maybe I should change the exhaust. I ran with traction control off the first run with o/d off. Then my best time below I put t/c on and o/d off. And didn't spin that much. Any info helps.
R/t : .120
60' : 2.378
330 : 6.654
1/8 : 10.088
Mph : 71.86
1000 : 13.019
1/4 ET : 15.462
Mph : 92.87

What should I do to achieve 14's

What year Mark? What were the weather conditions? A 2.37 60 foot time you were definitely spinning. You should be able to get a 2.2 60 foot time pretty easily on street tires which would get you down to 15.0-15.1 same night, same conditions. Were you launching off idle or did you try to stall it up a bit?

Weather in Houston at the strip was 85-90. I launched at 1,200 for the best time and the other 3 I launched at 1,500 and they were 15.546-15.627
98 base

Honestly brosef, your times seem to be right in line. With 85-90 degree temperature, the density altitude was definitely not optimal at all and with a stock Mark8, I wouldn't expect much better than that. You did your best given the conditions. ;)

If you want to achieve 14s or better with a Gen2, you need full exhaust with headers, a steeper gear, and a stall converter. There is no other way. That is the proven recipe.

You need to launch it off idle and get some better tires. Run with a 1/4 tank of gas and everything removed out of the car. Also, stage shallow so you get more rollout before you start getting timed.

I took off when the third yellow came On. So what mufflers would be a good choice. I'm feeling flowmaster delta 40's with 2.5 dual from manifolds back.

TC on is a no no on a Gen II. Never have it on if you are racing it.

Look into Flowtech Warlocks. They have a cap at the end of the muffler (kinda like a cut-out) that lets you run a wide open exhaust when you take them off. They have a great sound capped as well.

Thanks for the info, I New tc should have been off, but just tried it.
