Looking to add a tranny cooler... Should i get one with a fan and t-stat or is that not really needed?

thanks

Get a decent sized one, and bypass using the radiator entirely

?? do you mean bypass the factory "radiator cooler" entirely? Only use the aftermarket trans cooler?

I ask because in Jerrys instructions, he says to use an aftermarket in-line with the factory....

Yes bypass engine cooling rad completely. Buy one nice and big and never look back.

Ill admit that not everything Ford does is a good idea...if you think about how a radiator works...you'll see that cooling 2 liquids in 1 area isn't the most brilliant idea, mainly because 2 hot fluids will help keep each other warn

Some Radiator/trans coolers are even problematic in that the coils can rub each other and cause leaks..much like a blown head gasket let's oil and water mix

IF you drive in the cold, using the aftermarket in-line with the radiator cooling tank will warm the ATF quicker. My combo ran a lot cooler when I totally by-passed the radiator and ran the transmission cooler separately. Most factory cooling systems are marginal at best.

Makes sense..... Just got to figure out which one to order up

Purpony, so what cooler did you go with? I need to buy a couple of things off of RockAuto and might as well buy a cooler off of there too.
