I have mild transmission slipping and I should be able to get past that with a flush and the 1-2 accumulator fix. However thinking more long term I would like a manual transmission.

I know it's been done and just looking at the car it's not that bad physically. I have done stuff like this before. A T45 and clutch stuff from a T-Bird or possibly a Mustang should be fairly easy to put in the Mark. Some fabrication I would guess and some stuff to move.

The electrical side seems to be where most people seem to fail. A lot of these conversions seem to be running in 'limp home mode'. We need a speedo output and shift lever position data at the least for the Mark to coexist with any transmission.

I've looked at a lot of the articles online and there is nothing definitive on this. Any thoughts?

The operation IS definitive and has been done a hand full of times, you just haven't found the right articles yet.

Search for Mark or Thunderbird 3650 manual in google, you'll find it. There is a user mad1stgen that just finished a Manual car on Lincolnsofdistinction.

lol, get offended much?

I only say that because this swap has been done, AND discussed many times.

I've done it twice, and am currently work in on my third.

At least 3 different poeple here have done it, and one guy on LOD has what i consider to be the ultimate manual swapped car.

The info is out there, and IIRC there are links attached to my "NOOBS" thread that is stickied to the top of this forum.

If you want the info AND the help, you need to not be so sensitive.

Bingo....every bit of info you could want is on that thread.

If you want to swap....start collecting parts.

I have about 100 pages bookmarked for Mark VIII. I have built quite a few cars over my 65 years and for all the ones before this I had to figure it all out myself. I will be pleased to have useful information but if I have to deal with :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs I am happy to figure it out myself.

My first was a 49 Dodge Power Wagon I dropped a 394 Olds into. A very nice truck I sold for very nice money. That was in 1978.

You're making a huge mistake in alienating people who can and are willing to help you. :shifty:

And you need to do more research before posting some of the incorrect conclusions that you've come to.

You don't need "shift lever position data", all you need to do is tell the PCM that the car no longer has an automatic transmission via a tune. ;)

Of course VSS input is needed, and is available from any transmission that will fit in a Mark VIII. Some conversion of the output may be required if using some of the newer model transmissions.

I've been on the planet nearly as long as you, probably built as many cars, and I still haven't developed your piss poor attitude, guess I'm just lucky. :p

Cuz you're the awesome :)

I don't mean to start a fight but if you roll your eyes at me I will say something.

Forgive me.
