thinking about maybe picking this up

thats an early build 93. might even have a w3z2 computer.
its probably down because it had an air leak that didn't get fixed, and the pump burned itself out trying to keep up.

i would expect it to need all four bags and a compressor.
 
So what would some things to check be? Blend door, rust,..? I don't really know Gen ones as well, so help me out a little lol. And where do you look to see if it's a w3z2?
 
always check for rust. the code will be on the computer. its above the brake pedal.

it doesn't look very driveable, so it will hard to road test for loose front end components and such.
 
Expect the entire front end to need to be rebuilt even with low mileage. Blend door issues are fairly rare on Gen I's as they have no blend door arm to break, but the internal plastic gears will strip causing a clicking noise behind the message display. Check for the regular things like rust, whether everything works etc.
 
Believe me, I don't plan on paying any more than 800 or 900$ for it. Thanks for the advise
 
The ECU is bolted just above and left of the brake pedal, just pop the black clip off the bottom and the unit will come loose from it's frame
 
Who cares about the ecu sure its a benefit but in no way something that needs to be look at when gettina car rust is the #1 concern then mechanical and appearance.

Are you referring to the intake tube with the holes through it making it an early 93?..nothing else seems out of the ordinary.

No. Those are the regular cobra badge

I would hope by now most people understand the general $1000 rule when buying any used car

Cars are a never ending money pit no matter what make/model/year you decide to drive

I doubt you'll be checking the trans since its slammed, but I'd suspect some hard driving because of the decals "owner thinks of it as cobra-sporty"
You know already you'll need to drop a few hundred on wheels and tires- snowflakes >.<

And besides, isn't UltimateSVT selling his 93? That'd be the one to get
 
Nothing like this ever pops up around me. I would drive mine up next to it and tell him what I gave for it and leave with that one for an easy $900 or less. Of course I wouldn't mention how much I have into mine.

I agree with Sapper, the badges on the sides would give me indication that it has taken a beat down at some point. The computer I could care less about. if not a Z2, one could be put in. I bet the vent solenoid on the compressor is stuck and probably has good bags for the most part. I would really like to see the interior.

well i went and looked at the car today. the paint was scratched up, but buffable, except for a spot where the clear was gone. the grill was broken (surprise, surprise). the lock cover was in bad shape too. the car did run good though and the transmission fluid looked good too. it had a w3z3 computer. interior was in good shape and clean. the guy said that he took it to the dealer, and they said that initially the relay went bad and then the pump and bags went out too. we agreed on 800, and on the way home i found a complete air suspension from another 93 for 100. thanks for the help

19 years and alot of sitting probably if it only has 67K miles on it..that alone will do in the air ride..as for the rest of the car looking rough, that's what happens when a car sits outside most of it's life without being washed regularly, especially if it's black.
 
Why do people post pics of cars they want to sell without at least WASHING them first?
