What coverage do you guys have on your Marks?

I have liability through am fam, paying around 45/month. I had full on it for the first couple years and then switched to liability when the economy tanked back in 08/09. Thinking about stopping in today to add Comp, which is something I should've done when I started working again.

I would like to hear your opinions, and why you chose what you chose.

The 97 i run full coverage
The 95 is liability only

I will be switching to hagerdy or Grundy for the 97 this year.

I have full on the 97 cause i have to much money into it not to have full cover.

I have full coverage on the '97 LSC, full coverage on the '96 Cobra, and liability/comp on the '94 Exploder. It all runs about $160 a month through Nationwide. I've checked around and that not a bad deal.

Mine is liability only, through State Farm. They wouldn't allow full coverage because of the cars age. Might be an Alabama thing, idk. I was with some bullsh!t insurance provider (Omni) when my 94 burned and I learned a huge lesson from that. I pay $180 every 6 months and my agent is 2 miles away, not out of state like my last one was, all because I wanted to go as cheap as possible.

You really need comprehensive on that thing too. I know it's not a dd, but there is that slight possibility that while you're taking a leisurely cruise about the neighborhood, Bambi might just decide that today is a good day to die and jump in front of your pristine Mark VIII causing immeasurable damage that would not be covered by liability alone. Whew. Run-on sentence from hell:D Anyway, I know what you mean about local insurance agents. I've had the same insurance agent for almost 20 years. The office is only a couple of miles from my work, but about 40 miles from home. But that's still not too bad. At least he's not out of state.

I'll never be stupid enough to mess with any out of state insurance company again. Thaywood, I would have more of a chance of a meteor falling out of the sky and slamming through the car than I would a deer jumping out in front of me, well, around here anyway. Either way, with the cars age, they will not allow me to get full coverage on it. I tried when I first bought it. They could never pay me what I have into it anyway, even if I could get full coverage. I had thousands invested into the black 94 but they paid the home owner to repair the garage but nothing at all to help me. It took Omni 6 to 8 months just to fix the garage. I had to take pictures for them and email them. They didn't even have an agent to do that. I felt like I was the "acting agent" because I was doing all the work and not getting anything. I also have renters insurance through State Farm too, along with the liability policy. Both combined makes it cheaper.

I had full coverage on my 95 and they paid out 2 times what I had in it when it got totaled. I currently carry full coverage on the 98 with farm bureau and it's about 55 a month but we have the navigator and a jeep as well as our house with them so we get a good discount.

I have full coverage on all vehicles (comp and collision) when they are driven. For instance I have my PSD, 08 Taurus, 97 mountaineer and 95 Mark on right now and the cobra is on fire and theft protection and I pay $183 but since my last statement I sold the mountaineer so it should go down. I am also only 26 but I do own my house (along with the bank) so that helps.

Nolimit call hagerty or grundy and get a stated value policy
As long as you have another car as a dd you should get a value of 10k for $150 or so a year.

All I have is the 88 GMC that sets out back and that's what I use if I'm getting out in the rain for any reason. Other than that, neither one of them are driven daily. Lets just say that I don't leave the house very often lol. Having a 9 year old in school, helping him with homework, feeding and all that good stuff makes me a full time mother and father. So, that's why neither one are driven daily. I'm not rich by no means but I'm also not struggling to pay bills like I was a year back. This is the next project. Runs fine but needs a few odd and end things done to it to really make it road worthy. I drive it in town but nothing distant.

Anyway, I'm not complaining about my insurance rates or anything. It's just that I did try to get full coverage on the 95 and they said they couldn't do it and I'm fine with that. Just less of a bill that I have to pay for the amount of miles I drive in a months time. I prefer for my agent to be down the road from me, with a well known company. Not saying what you have is bad in any way but I know they aren't anywhere around me. Never heard of them before.

I had full coverage, then we had a hail storm.. they paid out almost $3,000 to repair the damage then a couple months later I was hit by a motorcycle, they paid $300 (after the deductible). I used all of that money to buy another car, so to them my car is basically worth nothing until I repair the damages so I switched over to liability until then.

I pay something like $37 a month (amfam).

I'd recommend looking into an "agreed value" policy rather than a "stated value" policy. I have an agreed value policy through Safeco on my XR7. I'm currently paying $422 annually for a $42K policy on that car (keep in mind that I'm a 28 year old male).

Stated Amount policies are priced based upon what you say the item you’re insuring is worth. If you have a loss, the stated amount is the ceiling (maximum) the insurer will pay for that item. At the time of the loss, if market data determines that your item was worth less than you say it was, you will be paid less unless you can convice your insurance company otherwise. Agreed Value, on the other hand, is an amount that you and your agent/insurer agree your item is worth ahead of time. The rate you pay is based on this amount, and if you have a total loss of said item, that is the amount you’ll get for it.

I'm gonna ask about this when I go in later this month because it is my 6 month due date. I'll see what they will do for me and what the cost will be. I'm 43 and only one speeding ticket back in Oct 2011. All I would really want is maybe $10,000 and I'd be happy but I want the other persons car to be taken care of too and hospital bills. Never heard of these "stated and agreed values" but I'm sure they'll know what I'm talking about when I mention it.

I bevieve there are minimums for agreed coverage and usually restrictions as the car must be garaged and some companies have milage restrictions as well.

I don't know about deer specifically but I believe that falls under collision. As the deer would be colliding with the car. Comp is for fire, theft, vandalism, etc.

Pretty sure they classify animals under comp.

That fits me perfectly. I think I have put about 4K on mine in the past 2 1/2 years. My 94 was driven 19K in 5 years. I don't know what these restrictions are but I am sure to find out within the next week or so.

Racecougar that is what i ment i miss spoke thanks for correcting me i dont want others to do the wrong thing.

Wonder what the age cutoff is for collision? I had no problem getting collision on my '97 when we got it back in 2010 and it was 13 years old. And the '96 Cobra has to have collision because we took out a loan to get it. And we've had it a year this month so it was 15 years old when we got it. I didn't even ask about the Exploder because any damage would more than likely cost more to fix than the ol' beater's worth:D

Deer damage is covered by comprehensive. As is stone chips/cracks on your windshield. I've used it many times over the years. Bambi's pretty busy around here:D

Seems like I was told 15 years old if I'm not mistaken and I got it in 2010 from Jamie and then insured it directly with State Farm. It was at or past it's age if they ran the VIN# but it seems like I heard 10 years too so I really don't know. I'm sure if I had always been with them for years and years, they would have done it but I had just started with them for the first time. Could be another reason they wouldn't do it, along with the age, idk.

Good top know for deer. Not that we have much of a problem with it here.

I had Collision on the Mark until about a year or two ago and had comp on it until it was sold a few weeks ago.

I have $100k/$300k for all liability and I think something like $100k for property damage. Comp with a $100 deductible with no glass deductible. For that I pay right around $1500/year through Geico, they were the cheapest I could find. Collision would have added about another $800/year onto that.

Yea. I got my license July of 09, so I guess that's why its still pretty high, but the 3 year mark is coming, so that should help out. I've had a few speeding tickets though, so I'm sure those aren't helping.

Those tickets aren't working in your favor. Do they not offer classes over there? Every moving violation i've gotten the court offered some sorta class so that it doesn't effect rates.

Might want to look into those next time around. :)

I just had liability, because in all my years of driving (I'm 52 now, and have driven a LOT of miles both here in the USA and in Germany) I've never stacked up a car.
Then one evil night the crackhead kids across the street backed into it, totally caving in the driver's door, and so I got Collision and Comprehensive put on it.
