my gf has a 08 mariner and it has a cool lighting feature called ambient lighting. it has 6 or so 7 color LEDs controlled by one button that will roll throught the different colors. These are located in the foot wells, cupholders and rear console area, where our rear air vents would be. these can be located anywhere with long enough wire and it is cool to have your car lit up without the dome on. If you guys have been in a mariner you know what i mean. I have seen similar attemps at building a system from leds but these are time consuming and only one color. with this kit, not sold as a kit but in individual components from ford for about 390, is allmost plug and play. drill where you want locations to be and hook the lighting control module to a 12v source here is a link to give you an idea

Sounds cool but I dont know how far I would take it myself.

Maybe a soft white here and there and thats it for me.

ya my preerence is the white and red. but its cool to have 7 options. and a light in the cupholder is way cool.......

hmmm honestly when I started reading this I was thinking about the FnF crowd with their neons..... VERY FAR FROM TRUE!!!!!! That is much better than what I was picturing. I like the idea. Everything in my car is green, so I would probably roll the green into the LEDs as well..... but good idea man! If you do it, et us know how it turns out.

the biggest prob is getting ford to make sure i get all parts needed. i had them email the distributer and they said blah?blah blah. but if what i have seen so far is everything then total price 390.00. yes its high even IMO but it is a very good system and potentially very easy to install. easily worth the money especially since if something does go wrong each set of leds are on their own harness that plugs into the lighting control module.

That's cool! I wouldn't pay $390 for it though!

I started to do a project like this on my old car, here's a crummy video of it cycling through some colors it's pretty dark but you get the idea

edit: hey this automatic youtube embedding is pretty neat! :)

was this a kit you purchased somewhere??? i searched all night last night and couldnt find anything that fit what i was looking for

Street FX makes a kit for motorcycles that would suit your purpose. Multi-colored or single color. They are small enough to mount in the vents easly.
