Economy and price of gas has little to do with it or just about every car in its class would suffer the same deal.

Well nobody buys this car for it's resale value.
I bought mine because the depreciation made it very attractive so I can't complain if it keeps going down.
I don't have a loan against it and plan on keeping it for another 5 years or so.

i found a 2001 lincoln ls sport with 70,000 miles on a lot here in central cali for 10995! LOL that car will never sell!
