I'm looking for a black driver's side fender for my '93 Mark VIII, in good condition with no rust. Shipping to Toronto, Canada would probably be a pain but I'm willing to pay it, since there aren't many Marks in my area

A fellow canuck, good to see you ;)
I just got hit in the same fender on the other side of the wheel though. :(

You wouldn't necessarily need a black one. If you were to get it painted the cost wouldn't be too high since you wouldn't have to blend the color onto adjacent panels. Good luck with your search.

I'll probably take it for quotes next week, but I'm thinking they're all going to be outrageous and above $500. I had some rust fixed on the trunk of a '91 Taurus that I had in 2006, and even that cost me $400

I just happen to have a 93 black fender with no pinstripe and it has zero rust. I have it in the attic and as far as I know, there isn't a scratch or ding on it. PM me an offer and if the offer is good, I'll go take it down and double check it and also give you many pics before paying.

just got back from a junkyard tour. mass enterprises ,mendon il, (217-936-2545 has four gen 1 they are getting picked over have 3 good hoods, three good front fenders, couple of good climate controls, couple of door handles. don,t know what their policy is but i think there is a couple of good oil pans. interiors are mostly crap. one good antenna.

Shipping is VERY challenging!

Or let me say, it's all about how much effort is put into it. I did feel like I was buying a new car or something with all the papers I had to sign at UPS but pics below will show how I boxed it up and it did make it to him without any harm what so ever. He said he would be showing pics of the unpacking but I have pics of the packing. I have a few hours into making the box out of two flat screen boxes.

Used two Vizio flat screen boxes I had in the attic. One was from a 47" and that one held most of the fender and then I had to fabricate the 42" Vizio box onto the 47" and I bet I have 2 pounds of tape involved with all of this but it did make it to him just as I sent it. Over 150 yards of tape was used. I'm not in liberty to discuss what the shipping of this cost but if the buyer wants to tell it, he can. I just thought I would share a way to ship a fender to Canada without any damage happening to it. Flat screen boxes are very thick and obviously have plenty of foam inside to work with in different ways.

Terry, being as I am from up there in Canada I appreciate the effort you went to for us Canadians. I get turned down all the time by US sellers for most things as they do not want to ship to Canada as it seems to be a pain in the butt to ship over the border.

Props mang and thanks for the effort even though I was not the recipient of said parcel.

I don't mind at all as long as the buyer accepts that shipping cost. It can be a little on the high side. I also found out that after the fender made it to him, he had to pay some other kind of charge before UPS would release it to him. I really didn't understand that but maybe when he comes on with unpacking pics, he'll explain. What was good about it is that it was a direct bolt on. No painting and no rust. It just needed a rubbing compound applied and waxed up. :)

He gets hit with a VAT on his end....

I've had a guy come down here a couple times to buy SVO parts and I have to write up a receipt each time.

I just checked the PM he sent and he mentioned a "brokers fee" I feel like the cost paid when it left my hands is what it should have been to his door. I was never informed of any "brokers fee"

The broker's fee is the fee paid to clear customs in Canada. What shipper did you use? Fed-Ex or UPS?

From what I understand UPS charges a customs clearance or brokerage fee and does nothing to earn it so to speak. From what I have heard there is a class action suit against UPS for this very reason.

I had a Cobra fuel rail shipped to me and the guy shipped it UPS because he said that was the easiest as he would just go in and they would take care of it all. Well, the third time they shipped it, yes they returned it to him twice for different reasons, they finally got it to me. I paid $50.00 shipped, they pinched him $25.00 and nailed me on the other end for another $32.00 for customs brokerage fees.

Guys, if you ever need to and can do it use USPS international mail as they do it all up front and no hassle on this end maybe a $5.00 sur charge by our postal service but that is more resonable than either UPS or Fedex.

Hell I am getting a complete car sent to me for $1400.00 transport and $450.00 in taxes and duties.

I wanted to go with USPS but they wouldn't deal with a box of that size. It doesn't look that big in the pics but once it's in front of you, it's big. It was around 6ft. long and around 40" high and 15" thick. It may have been 7ft. long, for got exact measurements but my local USPS told me to take it to UPS lol.

UPS sucks, but if you use their air service (or the step up from Ground) then you shouldn't have to pay anything when it gets here. It's easier to get stuff to the USA than back (only one form to fill out!)

As for damages, it looks like any shipper can be a pita! I just shipped some trim to the USA and used a piece of wood to support it, then wrapped it in a box so it didn't get bent or damaged. Made the shipping cost 1.5x what I thought but it'll get there at least undamaged. I used plain old Canada Post, they had nop problem with a 60" long package, though I had to make it wider to fit there min width. Took an hour to wrap that and mail it too, lol...
