I was planning on visiting the junk yard today to get a pair of used struts but I dont have all the tools I need & I think I no longer have the patience I once used to when it comes to sitting out under the sun & mucky junk yard to pull 2 struts that might be so old it's not worth it.

That being said, what do you guys think of these?

These Suncore's are the ones I have on my praire tan & let me tell you... I don't miss my air ride at all with these Suncore's. They are smooth as silk however I want to save a couple bucks.

Not sure if those are the exact ones i have on my 96 mark, but if so I love mine. I know mine were monroe quick struts but I got the whole kit for front and back so i don't know part numbers. But the monroes struts are a very good strut

My father has always put Monroe's on his older cars. He has nothing but good stuff to say about them. I think I'm going with the Monroe's this time.

My mark has a monroe coil kit on it. If you have the money, buy it from your parts store new. It's about $600 including shipping and comes with a lifetime warranty, if one thing ever goes wrong they replace the entire kit for free.

Ontop of that it's a great kit with the best instructions you could ask for, for both taking out the air ride, and installing the new susp.

Thats the kit I got, not sure if there's an o'reilly in your area but they shouldn't be hard to find at other parts stores.

Edit: compatibility says it works for 96 Mark VIII Anniversary.

Thanks dude, I actually know how to install these. I've already done 2 conversions. I did the ones on my 93 which I actually had to load the springs onto the struts on that car (Eibach lowering kit) & I installed the SunPro kit on the prairie tan 97. This black 97 already has springs in the rear so I don't need to buy the whole kit. That's why I'm looking at front's only.

The Monroe Sensatracs that are on my car (pictured on my avitar) have progressive springs and they too rides smooth as silk. The Monroes for the T-Bird does not appear the have the progressive springs and may ride a little firmer.

Let us know how you like them. I might get some of those to firm things up a bit up front. Good score on the Black '97 btw.

I will definitely keep everyone posted. I look at it this way, I got SunCores for my prairie tan & I couldn't be happier. They are super smooth & I'm sure these Monroes are superior to the SunCores.

Dude I have the Eibach kit on my 93. I wish I could lower my 97. If I did, All I'd do is swap the kit from my 93 to my 97 but my wife wants that car as "stock" as possible. I know I'm going to regret selling my 93 with the Eibach suspension but in a way I think that I too want stock suspension on the black car. I might sell that car in the future & you guys know when we modify these cars it only attracts certain buyers.

That's because Monroe is not a high quality product. I used to have a Monroe display in my old shop, even that thing was broke after about a year and a half

If you're gonna go cheap on shocks, might as well just get Gabriels
