Anyone ever attempted to run speaker wire through the kickpanel into the front doors on a Gen II?

Any tips?

Looks like I can cut the grommets where it attaches to the door and the jamb and run the wire outside the conduit. Though the fuse panels and other electronics modules behind the kickpanels scare me.

I drilled grommets into the front part of the kickpanel right next to where the plastic kick panels clip in and then ran the wires thru the boots...

Required a very large ziptie, rounded off on one end, electrical tape, and lots of lube and patience

Damn it. I was hoping to not drill new holes in the door/jamb. Can anyone with a Gen II comment on their experience?

Sounds like a sweet saturday night.

Pardon me for being Blonde here again but why are you attempting to run speaker wires to the front doors ?

Don't you already have speakers and wires in the front doors ?

I'm sure I'm missing something.

I need to run wires for components (mids and tweeters) from an amp in the trunk.

1st gen, 2nd gen, doesnt matter. no holes need to be drilled any where.

i use an antenna off of a truck, the thin ones with the spiral that are really flexible. also found it to be the easiest to push the door boot most of the way into the door.

This is 12ga. bi-speaker wire by Knukoncepz. It's two sets of 12ga wire twisted into a solid jacket. Each run will potentially be carrying 125 Watts to each of the two drivers in each door. I just need to get this ~1/2" Dia. cable through to the door on each side, then I can split the jacket to send the leads to the mids and the tweets.

There are PCM's and fuse relays that will have to be removed, or loosened at least, to get to the conduit that runs between the doors. From behind the kick, you ant even see the grommet that goes to the door - its behind all those electronics. This is going to be fun.

Even if i have to have a pro shop do this, I will take pics for the bassheads in here!

When I put Polk components in the front doors I used the existing wiring with no issues. Finding a place for the crossover was interesting; IIRC as it's been ~10 years!

this is where your gonna run into problems, if that wire really is .5" OD, I dont know if there is going to be enough room in the boot with all the OEM wires in there, they are not that big to begin with. i didnt really have much trouble pulling a 12awg set through with thick insulation, it made it a lot tougher to pull another three 18awg singles in for the alarm.

if there not, i once made a guy go grab a set of extra oem door boots out of a junkyard and cut holes in the door and body a little lower than the originals to run his ridiculous wire through. wasn't on a lincoln though so dont know if it will work as well

That is the exact wire I used..

I did NOT drill any holes in the door or jam.. I ran thru the factory boot.

BUT.. I did not want to touch the PCM so I went thru the metal in front of the PCM and then thru the boot.

Then to get thru the boot I had to pull the doorpanel (obviously) and cut lose the tape that attaches the boot to the wires so you can slide it out of the door. Pretty standard procedure and my hands hurt for days after all 4 doors
