So about 4 weeks ago I was having a tough time seeing through my windshield while it was raining. I was tired of having the windshield wipers on high. So, I used this rain repellent made by PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) and I seriously do not use my windshield wipers anymore. The rain repels right off the windshield. There are similar products such as rain-x. Some of you probably already know this, but for those of you who don't, it makes a huge difference in visibility. Amazon sells this from $4-9. Just thought I'd share. Safe driving

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to try it out. I've only used rainx in the past so hopefully this does better.

i use the rainx washer fluid / defroster in my car all year round... It keeps a the rainx applied all year so i never have to mess with it.... but i might try this just to see if theres a difference.... thanks!

Nice.

I usually just apply a coat of wax, col 845, like pektel said he did, and it works great too, makes a big difference.

I always use the wax on my windshield too, or a microfiber with some spray detailer does the same effect. Whenever I'm in someones car without it, it drives me nuts!

Yup, this stuff is gimmicky mostly, a wax on the windshield achieves the same results and you don't have to buy anther product.

I had read reports of glare from the sun or oncoming headlights at night using these products or wax on the front windshield. Anyone here had problems with glare using either of these methods?

yes I have, simple solution. Don't apply in direct sunlight. Its the same way with waxing your car, do it in the sun and you get streaking.

I'm going to try this stuff. I might also try wax since I need to buy some anyhow. I've used rain x and I have the wiper blades from rain x. I don't care for either. The liquid causes all the dust and saw dust flying around my shop to stick to my windshield instead of blowing off when I start to drive. The wiper blades suck. I've been through 3 pairs this year cause they streak as they return. That is super annoing. Thanks for the tip !

I have yet to find decent wipers, it seems they all smear, streak, jump, or chatter....

Less glare with tint on your windshield ;)

I have the Rain X countour wipers and I like them a lot. But wax on the windshield lasts a really long time. I put that NXT 2.0 wax on it.

Yeah, I was really surprised. I've heard the aquapel last longer than the rain-x. I do a lot of highway driving so I figured why not try this. I've also heard that rain-x is better at lower speeds (35mph & below) and aquapel is better 36mph and up. I used bosch windshield wipers and have no complaints, but I really dont need them now. But I'll have to try the wax. Is it actually just car wax Andrizzle?

Yea, I use the container of paste wax (NXT 2.0 or whatever it is called) from autozone that you put on paint, just swirl it on the glass just like it was paint (avoid getting wax on rubber seals) and then let dry and wipe off. I am sure any paste wax has a similar effect.

I have the Bosch wipers. Just got a new windshield, awaiting for enough time to get the tint done. I've used Rain-X for as long as I've been driving. Great stuff at Highway speeds. I'd say anything 40+ and it works wonders. Will definitely try the wax next. Fewer bottles in the box in my trunk.

@05Linc_LS_V8 NXT 2.0 Wax is Meguiars Synthetic Spray Wax I believe.
Edit:*@andrizzle didn't know that came in a paste.

A little off topic but do you guys use window cleaner on your windows? I've been using 50/50 Isopropyl Alcohol and water, which highly suggest using.

I just went and got the Meguiar's Clay Bar Kit and some wax etc. Just did the clay bar on the front windshield (never used a clay bar before, I like it). I still have water spots, and can still see where the wiper blades have gone across the window.

Maybe I need to get a medium grade clay bar (as I think this kit must come with a fine grade)?

I thought I'd make sure it was really clean and smooth before putting on wax. I will clay bar the car and wax it too (clean, clay, polish, wax). Being 9 years old, it probably needs a medium grade clay bar the first time too (then polish & wax). I have only washed the car since I owned it (no wax, been waiting to get some paint work done... but tired of waiting).
