Wierd things happening To my Mark VIII - HELP!!

Doubt it. I think I'd rather troubleshoot a failed 96 module than try to adapt one that was never meant to work. A 96's EEC V PCM may not even be able to communicate with an EEC IV module.

You're right, it won't...you'd be better off to disassemble the old one and replace the triacs and any other power switching components in there (transistors and relays) You could build a circuit to mimic what the module does with a few parts and basically bypass the module (you'd lose the wot cutout of the a/c compressor and the fuel pump would be either on high or low all the time as well as the fan). It's not simple, but if you can't find one, it's the next best thing.

Good question.

Has anyone actually tried to interchange? Could it just be lore that they are not?

I could see 93 to 95 being incompatible with 97/98 since we are talking ODB one versus ODB two.

a 96 is obd 2 ford seemed to convert all the obd 1 stuff to two for one year the f150 the mark 8's the tbirds alot of stuff got diff electronics before the full change so it fools you into thinking it works but *sigh* it doesnt

if you ever get a replacement thaywood, I want your old one. I want to disassemble and test to find out what goes bad and see about repairing them. I have a spare that I got for cheap for my 96. It really has no value at all, except for the comfort of just knowing.

It's not looking good at this moment. But if I do luck up and get one, I'll be happy to let you have the old one. I'll keep ya posted. :)
