Which is the heater inlet hose ?

I'm going to use the Prestone Flush N' Fill Kit.

I'm not going to cut the heater inlet host as described in the Prestone instructions. I'm going to disconnect the heater inlet hose from the engine, temporarily attach the T-connector at the end and then connect a small piece of 3/4" hose to the T-connector and engine. After the flush is done, I'll remove the T-connector and small piece of hose and reattach the heater inlet hose to the engine.

I just need to confirm if the heater inlet hose (pictured below) is the one on top with the hose clamp tool ?

The lower hose carries hot coolant from the passenger side head to the heater core. The upper hose carries coolant from the heater core to the backside of the water pump. The "heater inlet hose" would be the lower hose.
 
When replacing "heater hoses" on a Gen2, where are the following located ?

1) Heater to Pipe-1 (Is this the lower hose above ?)

2) Heater to Pipe-2 (Is this the upper hose above ?)

3) Pipe-3 to Engine

The hoses are marked 1 and 2. There is no "pipe 3" on gen twos, at least any that can be replaced. In the pic, the top diagram shows "pipe 3", which is the heater pipe that runs through the engine valley. On gen ones, it attaches to the water pump inlet with a short hose and hose clamps, which is why RockAuto is selling generic straight hose to use there. On gen twos, it's a solid metal pipe with O-rings, kind of like the A/C connections. So ignore pipe 3 in the RockAuto catalog. It only applies to gen ones.

Just get the hose 1 and 2 from AC Delco or Gates and you should be good. Goodyear used to sell both but I see one of them is now labelled "cut to fit" and you don't want that.

1) If I'm replacing the hoses around the Tee, the following should be chosen as well, correct ?

Lower - Tee to W.P. (Molded Coolant Hose 21974) ... "Cut to fit" looks like it should be on the line above

Reservoir to Tee (Molded Heater Hose 19676)

2) Lower - Rad. to Tee ... I'm not sure if the correct hose is referenced above since it's only a few inches long

3) I've seen people offer links to the "worldpartsinfo.com" website. Is that a site that requires a subscription to use ?

4) When replacing coolant system and radiator hoses, should the connection pipes be coated with grease like the one below ?

I know a discussion about replacing coolant system and radiator hoses doesn't seem related to flushing the cooling system. But if you're car is due for a flush with a caustic product, replacing the hoses afterwards might be a good idea, especially if the hoses are old.

Gates #19676 connects the thermostat housing to the reservoir.
Gates #21974 is the lower radiator hose, which connects the thermostat housing to the radiator.
Gates #24024 is a straight 4" long hose that connects the thermostat housing to the engine.
Gates #22131 is the bypass hose, which connects the thermostat housing to the coolant crossover tube.
Gates #22132 is the upper radiator hose, which connects the coolant crossover tube to the radiator.


It wouldn't hurt to use a little of that grease.

The "Tee to WP" is just a straight hose, about 4" long. That part number will get you a generic 3 foot hose, so you'll have a ton left over. It looks like Goodyear sells a pre-cut one, part# 66042. Either will work.

The 21974 actually goes with the next line, "rad to tee". Those two lines (21974 and 25473) are for the same lower radiator hose. No one I'm aware of makes a proper molded lower radiator hose any more, so pick whichever one one you prefer. I hate the look of flex hoses, so I'd go with the molded one.

Yes, if you're replacing everything, you want "Reservoir to Tee (Molded Heater Hose 19676)".

Also you'll also need the crossover to tee hose ("Engine To Tee") (Gates #22131).

There's also a hose that runs between the radiator and the overflow tank, but it's a generic small diameter hose (not sure what size).

This is all you need: FordPartsGiant.com. ;) I just suggest that people don't post the diagrams directly here, but rather post a link to the diagrams. That site isn't affiliated with Ford and I've heard Ford isn't happy about them posting the parts diagrams for free, so it could disappear at any time. So don't abuse it. Links are fine. Posting the pics directly is not.

Thanks for mentioning the Goodyear hose. $4 dollars is better than $26.

I've been partial to Gates hoses due to their limited lifetime warranty.

Unless I can find a generic 1 1/2" molded coolant hose with a lifetime warranty, I'll get the Goodyear 66042 molded coolant hose for the "Tee to Water Pump".

I'm starting to understand how the cooling system is put together.
