Where do you guys buy your brakes online?

As a retail salesman, I can completely agree with ken as far as customer service goes. Jwerner, just because autoanything is a HUGE online store by no means automatically implies it has awesome customer service. Look at Home Depot and Lowe's for instance. Low prices? Yes. Customer service? Not even close! It's complete crap! When I compete with Home Depot solely on price, I normally beat them anyways. People just have the perception that Home Depot is going to have lower prices than I do. In all honesty, for the people who only want bottom dollar price-and that's ALL you're concerned with- by all means go to home depot (or insert big box retail store name here). Just don't come crying to me when you don't get the service that comes with it. I believe good customer service comes with a price. I happen to think it's a small price for peace of mind.

Both have their points but implying someone is unloyal because they don't buy from a supporting LVC vendor would drive me away from using that company. So what if someone wants to save a few dollars?

People call Wal-Mart the devil all the time but I always see their parking lot packed and you can acuse any number of those people of being unloyal to local business, but in this day and age people want to save money even if it's a few dollars even if it means shoddy to no customer service.

Well, this is putting words in my mouth that I have never said or will NEVER say. I totally disagree with this statement. My intention was not to "imply" or "accuse" someone of being unloyal. My only abatement was to say "give us your first chance before heading off somewhere else". Joey has done a great job trying to give the Lincoln and Cadillac community a place to go for your needs whether it be advise, parts or just BS'ing around. 'Nuff said about that.

Right. There's always a trade off. I was stating that it's not a higher price just to make more money. It's to cover the after-the-sale support.

I shop at Walmart. Mostly because I know the owner of the local grocery store, and he's a complete prick. So I used to go all the way across town to his competitor to shop. I was really happy when Walmart went up right next door to his store, and turned his parking lot in to a dead zone.

Customer service should not have to come with a price. If you are a loyal salesman you should feel confident enough that with low prices your customer service should not be compared.Honestly I never had trouble with autoanything.com and I am also not saying it is the best place to shop but really what kind of customer service do we engage in when we order something online? We fill out the form let our card get charged and its said and done ( in most cases ). Ken does provide good service to us because we can converse with him on this forum which is a great benefit for both us as customers and himself as the salesman.

I work in a area of retail that is very touchy. I deal with pets and I know how much people love to save money since almost everything they buy thats not on impulse is a necessity ( and spend the extra if necessary ) and have great customer service at the same time and trust me in the pet trade customers really need great customer service or they could have something go seriously wrong.

I really don't have any point to that cause we both believe to each his own pektel but I thought I would put that in the air for it should give some insight toward my reasoning:) .

I support LSK, it does have some great deals and it does like I said have some great products that cant be found anywhere else but all I wanted to do was share some info.

If the Op wants to save he has that option but if he wants to support a fellow member of the forum as well as someone that has similar interest then I believe there is nothing wrong with that as well.

I never put words in your mouth so please don't accuse me of doing so. I said this statement...

I mean everyone wants a deal but where do loyalties lie within our own forum community?

implies that if we don't shop at LSK, we are somehow unloyal to this forum community.

I appreciate your support and business as always. The auto parts business is extremely competitive and where ever you can get an edge is key.

Don't be so quick to jump Ken's $hit. He has always answered every question I have ever asked him to the best of his knowledge even if it didn't mean a business deal for him, lets see one of your big car parts sites do that. I just ordered my accel ignition coils from carparts.com on the 3rd and I just found out they didn't even ship them until yesterday meanwhile they didn't send me an e-mail or anything. I guess what they meant with free shipping is "we'll ship it when we feel like it." Ken on the other hand had my aluminum intake sent to me which I ordered Monday morning to my door this morning. I'm always for a better deal but Ken also offers a hell of a lot better customer service and unlike these big chains actually cares if his customer is satisfied with the end result. So you may be getting a better deal and "free" shipping but in the end you get what you pay for.

Ken, the only complaint I have about lskoncepts is that I just saw you are now offering fake fender port holes. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over!

Have you visited EBC's troubleshooting guide?

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/troubleshooting.html

Yes I did. Nothing that is described in the Q&A or troubleshooting sections is similar to what I'm experiencing.
I did email them about it. They told me some noise is common with drilled and or slotted rotors, which is entirely true. But I've driven many different cars with drilled and slotted rotors and have never felt anything like this. They seem to think the pads haven't yet fully seated to the rotors and simply suggested that I wait at least another 1000 miles before I complain some more. :runaway:

LOL! I added those because I had so many people ask about them. I'm not saying I'd put them on my car but Putco makes them and they are popular to say the least.

Hmmm...that's strange. I had the cross drilled and slotted rotors on my LS before I switched to the StopTech BBK and didn't have any noise with those. Did you use the disc brake quiet stuff from Permatex when you put the pads on? I know that may be a cause. Also, EBC started to add the shims to the pads just recently. Did yours have those? If not EBC will send you a set for free if you call (818) 362-5534.

Man!? All I did was ask question about where some of you guys buy your brakes from. I didn’t want to turn this into such a big deal. :(

I just want to put some good quality brakes on my car that don’t squeak so much, that all…

So does that mean someone who buys a product from a non supporting vendor such as autoanything.com to save some money is unloyal?

You gave your side of the story but just because JWerner2 showed another place that was bit cheaper doesn't mean he is ragging on LSK.

I've known Ken a long while now, and I can tell you, he didnt mean to imply anyone was being disloyal to LVC or anything if they dont deal with him.

But, I can tell you this about guys like Ken, Geno and the other vendors here. They will bend over backwards to help an LVC member. I've known Ken to spend time on the phone and on the forum helping members figure out something with their car without thought of if he was able to sell them the parts they needed to do whatever they were doing. Ken gives of himself to our members.

The vendors on this forum are what make this forum possible. They pay the freight for the servers, software, bandwidth, etc. So naturally, we would like you to use them whenever it makes sense for you to do so. But if you dont, that is completely fine as well. There is no disloyalty in my mind. You have to do what makes the most sense for you.

This forum is here for the free exchange of ideas, resources and suggestions. As such, I encourage you to pass along other suppliers who may be less expensive or have different / better products. That is the reason for this forum to be here. I've used other vendors myself from time to time, but I always look to our vendors first, and if the cost is close, I choose them, even if they are a little higher. I do this because they are loyal to us.

So, dont take anything the wrong way here guys. Ken is a great guy and a great supporter of LVC.

I have nothing personal against Ken or LSK and I know how hard it is for small businesses these days. That one comment just rubbed me the wrong way completely and if it was a business owner who I did not know, albiet I only know him through the forum, I would've taken my business elsewhere in a heartbeat. Maybe he worded what he said wrong or something but based on how he treats his customers and just other stuff in general, that is why I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Well the rotors I got are just slotted. I don't trust cross drilled rotors enough to put them on my own cars. I've seen too many crack.
The pads did have shims already applied so I didn't bother to spray them with the CRC anti-squeal spray that I've always used on prior brake jobs. If it weren't such a PITA to take the pads off I would have removed them already and sprayed them.
I'm gonna give these some more time to get worn in. The squealing I can deal with, its annoying but if I roll up the windows and turn up the volume on the radio I can't hear it anymore and then I don't care. :p It's the vibration that's driving me crazy. Set your cell phone to vibrate, then put your foot on it. That's about how my brake pedal feels when I have to stop fast for a changing light. But it is always the most prominent between about 30 and 25 mph. No matter how easy I am on the brakes I can always feel it between those speeds. It builds in as I approach 30, then below 25 it fades back away.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

You've pretty much described how my LS feels with Powerslots on all 4. I didn't think it was abnormal, though the Marauder has the same thing for rotors but no pedal feel. Perhaps a slight bit of noise as the pads cross the slots, but not the LS vibes at all. It doesn't bother me at all, thankfully. Good luck with it.

I’ve heard of the crossed drilled rotors cracking over time unless some of you know of some that don’t crack?.
I’ve priced brakes and rotors from Motorcraft:

Rotors $88.47 (each)
Pads $72.70 (pair)

I don’t hear a lot of people using Motorcraft brake on this forum. :( Is it only because most of you guys want to flash of cross drilled and sloted or are they lacking in stoping power or what?
I’d like to have some crossed drilled rotors but who has the best combination???

Motorcraft pads are garbage. They make noise, produce a lot of dust and the life on the pad is terrible. Next time I'm going to try EBC or Axxis.
