On my old 93 the steering boot was already cut a little to put a wire through it so i just used that.

On my 97 ive been thinking of drilling a hole and using a gromeet but there is pracitically no room to do so...and i really dont want to go through the boot..i might be able to route it along the other harness and ziptie it.

My question is for those of you with aftermarket stereos where did you run your power wire?

Pics would be great.

i ran mine in my 97 and my 98 through the steering shaft grommet. do what you want!!! its your car, but if you drill, make sure you know where the bit is going to pop out!!!

dont drill there is no need
I think I ran mine through with the main wire harness but I haven't seen
my car in a few months

allright so that looks like a little better option, and of course im gonna do what i want jamie, :p i just wanted to see if there was a better alternative to drilling or going through the boot, its COLD in jersey and a tight fit under there

i saw in an old thread tommy (nycls8) said something about going through a hole behind where the shocktower is

I ran my 00 AWG wire through there.

I drilled a hole, it's under the brake booster and a pain to get to but it works and I don't have to worry about it rubbing on anything.

One car of mine, the power wire ran underneath the body to the trunk where the sub was. Had it in a long piece of hose to protect the wire.

Worked fine, even if a little ghetto. And it is cold out now, that project of yours can wait a month when it'll be warmer :).

I went through the main harness seal. Pain to get to though.

And then I ran it through the cable channels provided for such runs or wire. Audio on one side, power on the other.

are you guys going through the firewall on the driver side or passenger side?

driver side looks tight back where all those connections are and the cowl is covering it, i see where the boot is on the passenger side as well but doing it that way i'd have to run the wire across and around the front of the car, not sure if it would be long enough.

I finally bit it after installing my W205 Alpine. I needed some BASS to back up the now much clearer highs.

I ran threw my box of wires that I save when I strip my system out of my cars when I get rid of them. I ran a 8gauge from the battery and followed the brake lines down and under the car.

Where the gas tank is sitting I drilled into the floor when it go's up to that back seat. I then ran the wire under the back seat and into the trunk on the drivers side. While I have it all apart I ran all the other RCA's and the AI net cable on the pass side. I also took the sound deadening out from behind the back seat and now I can hear my stinking back shock mounts loud and clear
