Wheels bought from fire666 cause crash

So, fire666, you intended to sell these for a while. Why would you come out of pocket, lose money, and create more work for yourself by repairing the alleged wheel to sell them under 3 days later (the length of time from your post saying they were bent/one cracked, to the time they were installed on Ace's LS) to another forum member? Sounds fishy to me. I just want to get the facts straight.

And Ace, if you had knowledge that the wheel was cracked, I agree that is was a dumb move to install it and drive. But to the members here who are using that argument: Who would even buy a set of wheels knowing that one was cracked? I think we can safely assume that the fact of the cracked wheel was kept hidden from Ace.
 
Well pektel, the secrete was kept but even in post #12 Ace admits knowledge of the crack prior to putting the wheel on his car.


My scale leans more toward Ace's side regardless. It was indeed a scam but the outcome may or may not have been avoided,....IMO.
 
You're right jwerner. Ace did acknowledge that he knew there was a crack before or at the same time he was installing the new wheels. At that point I would've gotten a refund, and given the wheels back. But that is neither here nor there.

I'm glad no one was physically hurt during the crash.
 
thank you because i had no idea it was cracked like i said i looked at them but i didnt see anything but i wassent looking for a crack.... the only reason i knew it had to be cracked is because i collapsed... then i assumed it was and was gonna send him a text, but my wife argued with me and said just drop it.... then i saw all those post and then got realy p-off because he knew it. I put them on because i was told that the leak was from the plug.. he said it was a bad plug job and when i put air in it i couldnt hear any air coming out so just like i would if i ran over a nail.. i started to drive to the tire shop

OOOH, I didn't realize that the texting happened AFTER the crash. In that case my previous statements about you having any fault I hereby retract.

according to fire666, ace did send him a text.

this is a bunch of heresay bs with he said she said going on.

i dont know who to beleive since they both have conflicting stories. the idiot seller or the naive buyer

Its ok... i thought i knew when it collapsed but like i said my wife was giving the ben. of the dout and told me to leave it alone untill today when we saw those post from him

I noticed here FIRE666 advertised the wheels as being in perfect condition.

Yet, now (post 22) he admits to having a crack repaired.

All seems pretty simple to me. If he didn't tell you the faults before you purchased them, then he owes you a FULL REFUND for not selling a product as advertised.

However, if the cracks etc. happened after the initial advertisement and you were told, then he owes you nothing.
 
Rule #1 of Performance tires: NEVER run with a plug/repair.
Rule #2 of Performance tires: NEVER drive when you have a leak.

Rule #1 of cast wheels: They can't be welded and still be safe; the heat resulting from the process of welding causes extremely hard, brittle metal surrounding the weld. Cast wheels cannot truly be repaired and still be safe.

Rule #1 of selling wheels: If you KNOWINGLY sell wheels that have been damaged/repaired and you fail to inform the buyer of said damage, you possibly take-on liability for resulting problems.

Rule #1 of Buying used wheels: Never mount/install used wheels without having them thoroughly checked and rebalanced prior to installation.



END RESULT: You're both at fault. Route of the problem lays with Fire666, and legally he may even be liable for damages. BUT that does not excuse ace's total lack of common sense and neglect for reasonable safety precautions.

Looks to me like the conversation and discussion on this topic has reached the climax of productivity. Ace, if you want to pursue legal action, I would say you've got enough admitted evidence of willful neglect on the part of fire666 to make a go of it. Arguing about it on LVC isn't likely to further any one's cause and would be a waste of time and bandwidth.

I really don't even know how that happened! All I know is two showed up!
 
Geez GUYS, i paid twenty dollars to get the crack welded. I already had new tires on the rims and i run over a nail. I bought a new tire to swap out and took both the wheel and new tire to get changed. The tire guy says he can plug and since tire was already new i said ok. about 2 hours later i noticed it was flat again. It was after 5 and so i couldnt change to the new tire. I had to be in peoria il at 9 am next day so had no time to put tire on then so i swapped out 20s for the stockers to make appointment. that night i believe i got the pm from ace and we made a deal and i drove up there and we made the deal. i honestly had no knowledge of another cracked wheel but can say the repaired one was a passenger side wheel. I also have another LS and they were on there.i tok them off there to try tots sell car and when i got my new ls i put them on there. 600 dollars, the tires alone are worth that{ 5 tires x $120}. I ONLY SOLD THEM TO GET A SET OF JAG WHEELS THAT ARE CRAZY EXPENSIVE. there is no con, no malice, no bull. a con man would surely not resond to these posts. again sorry man i didnt know im not a bad person ok
 
Two things here that I see, 1 did Fire666 disclose BEFORE the purchase that he had one of the rims repaired to the buyer? If not, then they shouldn't have been sold in "perfect" condition like you had stated. That is definitely something you should have disclosed.

2. Ace...Who installed the rims? If it was you, did you not check to see if there were any cracks in the rims? I don't know what's involved or, how noticeable a cracked rim is, but if that is something you can definitely see, then you should have inspected them a little closer. If a shop put them on, then they DEFINITELY should have noticed a cracked rim, and not installed them.

Also, I think we need some pics of the accident. I'm not saying you're lying, but when you come on the site, first post looking for rims. And your only other posts are you claiming someone sold you cracked rims, I raise a caution flag of a possible buyer scam. Again, this is nothing personal against you, but I've seen it on other forums. If, it is true what happened, then my apologies in advance, and I'm glad you and your son is OK.
 
Fact is somebody coulda died. This is serious. IDK what else to say really except I hope everyone realizes the severity of what happened.
 
wow this is crazy,does this happen all the time??? NEW to site lol. i think its just crazy luck. i find it hard to believe that someone would knowingly sell wheels that could kill someone. Ace you did say that u installed a wheel that had a leaky tire and i believe the fire guy said it only held air for a few hours. a few hours parked is alot different than trying to drive 45 miles. the crack could have been caused by the tire going flat and the rim riding the ground. I had a flat on a set of twenties i had on a previous car and didnt feel anything different. i didnt know i had flat until a guy at a stop light told me. But i do agree he should of told u of repair
 
First why try to screw any member selling them something that was a POS.. I don't care whether it was posted they were POS and you managed to sucker someone to purchase them. It was WRONG!!!!

As for anyone who knew that something is damaged especially wheels why are you purchasing them... they are POS.. and don't put your kid in the car with someone's POS on the car.

This was a sale that should have never gone down! Don't sell crap on this site... we are not out to screw any member of LvC whether they are sucker enough to purchase or not.

no not sour. i think that they both made mistakes but idont believe that any one tried to screw anyone. with what ive read i think ace was just too anxious to have nice wheels and made a bad choice to put a leaky tire on instead of it getting fixed first. Tire loses air, rim rides ground, rim fails. luckily insurace should pay and no one was hurt.. already learned a lessonon here lol
