get the car fixed.

spacers are not ideal for two reasons:
- the rim will not be hub centric - so your lug nuts end up bing what will hold it in round. it will then be prone to balancing issues.
- you place additional load on the front suspension by moving the weight further out. The front is already fragile due to the complexity added by steering components. Hitting potholes or road debris will have more impact than normal.

now 12mm is not much - so I'm not trying to be dramatic - but get the car fixed, there is something wrong.
