Whats up with the search feature on this site?

Lots of times people on here ask something then are immediately hit with the "why don't you just search for it" replies, which would be fine if the search actually WORKED. It doesn't, at least not all the time. Let me prove it to you.

There are many threads here with the word "LED" in the title. Some may say "LED's". No difference. Do a search for either term and it will say "no results found". This is true for other search terms as well.

Is there a trick to doing a search? In all fairness, I've seen this issue on other forums as well. Maybe the software excludes certain terms?

Just thought I'd mention it before you jump too hard on somebody about not searching first.

Try putting a "*" at the end of "LED". That usually works for me.

It worked with "leds*", not "led*".

I think the board software that's running LVC ignore search terms <= 3 characters.
Try finding all results on nav, thx, LED, etc. Frustrating.

In the olden days of DOS, * meant search for anything. For example me* would match me, meant, meat, and so on.
The search on this board doesn't work that way. It is one of the worst search features that I have come across.

I search for stuff all the time with negative results. I think the search feature is screwd and people should just answer questions.

no search allows the use of three digit words.

When you learn how to use it - you'll be hit with many, many repeated threads..... hence why people are sooo quick to tell you to search before starting a new thread.

The 'good' anwser is buried pages deep in non-answer or repeated answers (that have lost some accuracy)....

Sucks, but that is just the way it is. Searches must have more than 3 characters.

Yeah, other forums let you search for phrases and for this and that. This one only lets you search for this or that.

the 4.6 is bullet proof as long as you dont beat on it or mod it. ive seen pictures and videos of poeple that have over a million miles on these motors.

I think that 500/600 K miles is typical for the 4.6 in Crown Vics and Town Cars that are in taxi service.
