Now educate me,,The Gen I's air ride system is different than the Gen II's "BUT" The Gen II's will fit the Gen I's ??

Its all the same. The only difference is when the car left the plant from 93 to 96 they had metal structural parts to the front struts. In 97, with the introduction of the new design, they switched to a polymer compound which reduced strut weight.

Its all interchangeable any way you look at it.

The main reason most go with Gen II style struts is that they are A LOT cheaper than Gen I.

yes it will fit the only diff was the front struts if I recall correctly they ride smother and are half plastic

actually the plastic struts came in late 96, alot of 96's made it out of the plant with plastic struts too. i think they last longer too, northern cars seem to have rot problems with the earlier steel struts. i have seen them so rotten that you can almost puncture the shell of the strut with a screw driver.

I'm going to cry when my struts and my spare struts go out.... the aftermarket struts suck...

Thats why I went new OEM. I figure its a one-time expense unless I plan on keeping the car another 10 years. And I think most of us know anyone here who plans to keep a mark for 20 years or so would be a rare thing. Thats why I hate the poor excuse to convert to coil "they will just fail again, blah blah..."

I just wish Ford would not adjust prices every year. I think now the pair is $100 more than two years ago. But you can still find a few part sites that do not keep an eye on the prices and you can get new OEM CHEAP. For some reason places like Fast Parts discount then less than other parts. Other sites have a broad discount applied to all parts and dont single out the high demand ones.

I plan on keeping my Mark for a long long time.... it has good struts now and I have a good pair hanging on the wall... I wish I had the extra cash ans I could buy a new set from Ford and keep them stashed away.

I too plan on keeping mine a long.... time. It's finally garaged. Once painted this summer it should look new again. Mechanically it's great. In Jan., will replace calipers, brake lines and put on R1 premium rotors and pads. I love this car more than myself. lol. It receives better care for sure.

Well it would be nice to keep the car a long time. I'm hoping my 94 will be with me for a while..

I have a complete set of air ride parts for my 95 if the need be... otherwise those parts will be used to supply my 94 (with out air ride) a cash supply for future purchases.. LOL

Lols.... Its nice to know that coils will always be out there.... but I really like the air ride!

Just ordered my spider valve V3 to help keep it alive :)

whenever i buy a car i dont like to get rid of it i miss my first car dont plan on getting rid of the mark anytime soon i bought it to replace a 94 cougar with over 212000 but when the mark is gone the engine is going to be around for the next toy its a good engine and purrs like a kitten and my air ride was just replaced so i should be good for a while

You guys Love Your Marks

I guess we all have that same feeling. I was at a WENDYS recently coming south and a guy pulled in with a MARK and I remarked to him I had one in Fla in the garage and couldn't wait to get settled in and TAKE IT OUT FOR A SPIN. First thing he did was ask for my number if I ever wanted to sell it. Our's is a PEARL 95 44,000 A REAL CHERRY. I have MICHELINS ON IT WITH 14,000 Miles,,no sign of wear BUT they're 6 yrs. old. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK. HOW can I tell if their still ROAD WORTHY?? I do see some REAL FINE cracks just inside the first row of treads,,NOTHING towards the middle.

I would be really leary of tires that old.... I definitely wouldn't be doing any aggressive driving on them.
