I'm new to all this. Always loved the MARKS V111"s. Finally bought a CHERRY 95 in 07,,,41,000,,now it has 44,000. I have another vehicle. What do you guys mean GEN 1 & GEN 2 ??? Also what's this about data info talking to you?? I would appreciate any info.

Gen 1 93-96
Gen 2 97-98

The 96's are an inbetween model year as it was a first gen car with the obd2 data system.

93-95 cars are EEC IV processors like the fox body mustangs.

96-98 cars are OBD2 processors which support veiwing of a live datastream.

some scan tools can display a live datastream from the EEC4 cars but those scan tools are very expensive.

First, its VIII not V111. :)

Second, while I may not care for the Gen II exterior looks I always said its what the Mark VIII should have been from day 1. The Gen II interior is MUCH better designed and used high quality materials compared to the 100% plastic interior Gen I. It also has more refined electronics and some extra features. Also I see the design as almost timeless. Get a Gen II in perfect condition and you could tell someone its a new 09 model and to this day I bet they would believe you.

I think Ford realized this and the Gen II refit was an attempt to save the decline in sales. It did not work.

The Gen 1 is my preferred style. The less refined look is more "F-18" in appearance. Aged for sure, but sporty, sleek and aggressive enough to turn heads or have people ask what you are driving. Tell them is a Lincoln and they have to see the badge to believe it.

If I ever get another Mark though, it will be an all black Gen II LSC. Just have to swap my power-train into it.

+1.

For some reason, i just don't like refined cars or those that have too much so called 'luxury'

Silly Brit!

I have one of each, I like the sportier Gen1 look, but would rather have the Gen 2 as a daily driver(which is what it is). I wish we could still get the Gen1 airride parts though. I drove an almost mint 96 two weeks ago and it road a lot smoother than my 97 does. You could just tell that it had the struts with the thinner bladders.

technically speaking I have one of each.
Tiffs 94 and my 98

We got my 98 in april..Tiffany's 94's tags expired in August and her car hasn't moved since.

I think she likes the second gen too...(haha)
Right now.. she's out on a service call.. and she took my car!

??? the first gen struts were nortorious for locking up the shock portion if the strut..the first gen air ride parts were not better.

The second gen front strut was redesigned and is better than the part that it replaced

When I put second gen struts on my first gen the difference was night and day.

dunno.. bout no thinner bladders and such

Probably a bit lighter too, what with that plastic section replacing that nasty metal piece on the gen 1. (which seems to rust and be abrasive towards the bag where it folds)

Dunno why i said probably... I lifted both and the gen 2 strut felt lighter to me! Lol.

LMAO
nah I'm at the office, the boy is at day care.

she doesnt leave me with a screaming kid very much..

but I DID sit at home with him last night and let her go shopping by herself.
he slept thru most of it.

The only time he makes noise is when his stomach is empty or his diaper is full..he's pretty cool.

^
I cant believe my 1000th post was about my kids crappy diaper..

POST WHORE FTMFW!

Well I will say that when I took out my leaking metal front struts and put in the new OEM Gen II type I was VERY disappointed in the ride difference - there was none.

Conversion kit or not

Is the ride just as good with the Air Ride Conversion Kits. I figure parts will get HIGHER & HIGHER as years go by so put the conversion in when needed. What's everybody's take on that?? Which company has the better conversion kit?

I'm an air ride fan.... I've ridden in coil converted cars... I think the ride was a little rougher but not a ton.

What's this about not being able to get the Gen I's air ride parts???

Gen II is slower. lol. I give up quicker for slower. But I gain a free " BUNNY NOSE ", better interior and a cooler taillight ( when they work ). Well I'm sorry but I need QUICKER. I need that extra speed to go to the track each night ( never have ) and to blow by all those Police Pursuit Units. lol. In the end, I just prefer my 94's looks a little more. But I would be proud to own a 97/98 too.
