What tips should I get

I dont like how big the bumper cut outs are on the ls. I have 3'' tips and there are bid gaps around it. I was thinking maybe doing 4'' tips like 02v8Sport. What do you guys think, 4'' round or oval tips?

i like the round. i dont think the oval ones will look as good in a round cut out. yea 4 inch is a good size too.
 
Yeah true. Staight or angled cut?
 
I think I have the same tips as you (or similar). I also dislike the gap, but I wanted a straight cut and personally I thought 4" just looked too big.
Based on others' photos here, 4" angle cut looks pretty good i think.
 
yea i agree, angle would look nice so it doesnt stick out as much, kinda more flush
 
Who else has 4'' tips so I can check them out? They made the holes too wide. The stock tips look way too tiny in there, even 3'' looks off.
 
I would go with oval ones. The round ones look plain to me, thats why i bought oval ones for mine. They are just a little under 4".

yea those look pretty good too, i had a major oval in my head, those are barely an oval shape so they look nice
 
I just measured mine, I thought I had 3 inch tip but they are 3.5 . What size are the ovals? Those do look good. I really like how the 4'' look on 02v8sport's ls.
 
05 LS8's tip look really good. Alax are you wanting to sell those tips when you take them off? If they're in good shape send me a PM with what you want for them.
 
Yeah I will sell my flows and the tips when I switch the exhaust in a few weeks. I have to order a few things before I do the exhaust work.

Alax, the size is a little under 4" by 3.5".

I am gonna give you my honest opinion on the tips on the 02V8sportls's car. They are too big, with not much style and look cheap. In terms of style, i like your current ones better.
 
Mine are better? How? They look too little for that size hole. They would look good if there wouldn't be any cut outs and I would have to do them like on gen1s so I could make a nicer fit.
 
I got these 4" tips from Autozone when I modded up and extended my Mina Jag mufflers for the WW kit..

Last week one of the Mina's fell off and the car sounded hardly any louder so I put in a straight pipe and brazed the tip to it.

The Minas are just a straight pipe glasspack anyways and it sounds even better ans seems just a little more squirelly.

I may swap out the other side.

So this is my cheap mod for the LS. :D
Keep the resonators and replace the mufflers with straight pipe and tips.
Sounds awesome with CAI.

I know they are smaller than the holes are.
As far as the design of the tip goes, i like it better than the ones on the silver LS you posted.

Did you cut that out the hole yourself or is that the stock cut out hole?
 
I have 3.5" angle cut rolled tips. If I were to do it again, I would keep the same diameter, but get dual walled tips instead.

Do you need me to put up a couple pics?

I cut it out myself.
I think I used a quart can or something for the outline then cut it straight down.
The kit is for a 2000-2002 car and I had to do some simple(for me) mods to make it fit.
 
I checked out your pictures on your page pektel.. Trying to pic whore some more? :rolleyes: Those are double wall tips? Those look good. I thought you had the oval tips, but yours also look real good becaue you made the cut outs yourself to fit good with the tips. I think I will go with the 4'' double wall round angle cut tips
 
lol. That's why I asked first. yeah, I did the cutouts myself. I have a couple better pics, but I've whored those around quite a bit.
 
Here are mine Magnaflow 4" round rolled tips stainless. Got them at Amazon for like half what most other places charge.

Those dont fill in the the bumper as much as 02v8sport, I think he just put them up higher. Those look good.Yup, I'm sold, 4'' it is
