What the heck kind of chip do I have "MAX RPM"

Have you tried 'clocking' the MAF housing?

that is a good point, on mine it wasn't bogging it had poor idle control, but clocking the maf to either 3 oclock or 9 oclock helped
when I had the sensor facing UP.. the car ran like crap.

You want the sensor to be orientated in the longest path..
Look at the curves in the intake tube and see what position would put the sensor in the "longest path".

I got it from a Thai hooker. She told me "You go high long time".

Glad you enjoyed it.

Next time, I'll get you some Indian (India) stuff that will make you think you're a deer.

I'm gonna PM you my "safe" snail mail address!

ok, so i drove the car for a few hours today, the check engine came back on after about an hr of driving. Still the bog, the car does feel a bit smoother overall without the chip but still the bog

OK if I understand you correctly
your still running that maf, but have removed the chip.

your car runs better but still has "the bog".

That is probably because you removed ONE of the devices that is leaning out the car...hence the improvement.

now if you put a stock maf on the car, and you still have a bog, that's gonna lean towards a fuel delivery issue AKA weak fuel pump.

I wish you were closer, I'd just chunk my stock air box on your car and send you out for a test drive and HOPE you came back with my parts!!!haha
because Im fairly certain that would FIX the car.

is there anyone close to you that has a stock mark 8?
borrow their air box for a test....dont open it, dont take the maf out..just bolt the whole air box in...and test

you could probably pick up a stock air box W/Meter in a salvage yard fairly cheap... most of the time they dont realize the MAF is IN there..and will sell the whole deal for 20-30 bucks...

Good thing I read this thread, I was going to purchase a larger MAF with Conical filter.

I can get the LMS MAF for free so I still might pick it up and see what I can come up with.

Can I put that 80mm mas air flow inside the stock box or will it not fit?

The conical filter is not the problem. The problem is the C&L mass air meter, sell that and go back to stock and it will run a lot better. You can keep the conical, it works fine...

so leave the K&N cone? How would i do that though? Have half the OEM box on and the other half off with the K&N cone sticking out?

You can remove the stock MAF from the airbox. For now though just put the stock airbox on and see if that fixes your problems.

To use the stock MAF with a conical filter without the factory air filter box, you will need a flange adapter for the filter end and a hose adapter for the intake tube end.

That is our chip and it's fine. We havent sold a MAXRPM High Performance www.maxrpm.com (see wayback machine) (My old company) which I still own in quite a number of years. Its a good file though on a plain black Diablo blank. Hyundai eproms and processors are excellent. ALL Diablosport blanks as well as MANY others out there are this too. We used to have plain black & white stickers we could write the codes on in Sharpies.

the maxrpm.com doesnt exist, so that is your chip? Is there a warranty on it? How do I make sure the chip is fine?

If you plug it in and it works then its fine. I can't "go bad" so to speak. i have ever only warrantied 4 chips and they went bad mostly by user installs gone wrong. The warranty is not transferrable and is only applicable to the original buyer.

I know maxrpm.com doesnt work were now http://www.Lincolnmotorsport.com

yes, but how do I know it works? can I send it in to you to check it out? Or does it need some updates or anything?

Clean your contacts, install it and you will feel the difference, especially in the shifts and MPG.

Can you please point on on my picture of the chip what contacts need to be cleaned and what do I use to clean them with?

What contacts do you think? The contacts where the chip makes electrical contact with the ECU.
so these:

It probably isn't the contacts on the chip that need cleaning.
usually the chip contacts need "tightening" if anything.
by carfully bending them in the direction that makes then HOLD ONTO the PCM board better.

The contacts that need cleaning are 9 times out of 10 the contacts on the PCM board.
Ford did two things, first they put clear laquer on them then they coat it all with "grease".
Most people wipe off the GREASE and dont take off the clear laquer.
Even those that try to take off the clear laquer usually fail on the first 2-3 times.

I KNOW about the clear crap and I've not gotten it all off on "the first try"...and I've put a BUNCH of Chips in cars.

Clean the contacts, and clean them again.
Being very careful not to take too much material off the contacts themselves otherwise the chip wont fit tight and you'll wind up having to "retin/solder" the contacts SO the chip will fit tight.

There is a fine line between "not clean enough, and you SCREWED UP"

If it were ME, I'd be more worried about what I see in THIS pic..

That is clearly where someone has tried to "solder" or "resolder" the connection from the chip to the connector.

THIS may be the issue in itself, which could make it appear the "contacts need cleaning" due to a "connection issue".

Geno, they dont look like that when they are new..right?
Then..this one has been tampered with..and is likely JUNK.

There fine Tommy, look at ANY Diablo chip (again which this is with the "horns" cut off) they all look like this. I meant clean the contacts on the ECM and install the chip. Viking if you need detailed install info please feel free to call me at 856 456 3605. Ill be in and out with the new Baby and a VERY sick Pet ordeal going on but I will return your call.

Geno just for clarification, as I dont know if you've read the entire thread.

This chip was already installed, when he got the car.

SO unless the orignal owner screwed up the install the contacts SHOULD be fine.

This isn't a case where he got a "used chip" from some one and is now trying to install it.

Just FYI
