I was looking in the senior citizen (mark VIII) section of the forum, and I saw they started this.

I fell in love with an LS during my 2 week trip back home, my cousin Ray had a red one, it was loaded with everything except for nav, I drove the car around the corner and feel in love with it, it was stylish, comfortable, and not too expensive. Six months later, I saw a black LS with 26,xxx miles on it, they wanted 20,999 for it, I called the guy and told him I was an hour away, and I was looking to buy today, so I really dont want to play the salesman VS manager game, I drove to the dealership with 17,500 because I wasnt paying more than that, when I arrived at the dealership he had the car pulled up front and the drivers door open, I shook his hand and he said lets hit the highway, and we did, I hit I-24 in Kentucky and punched the gas, I thought it was a V-8 he said "no this is a 6, but you cant tell the difference" (he lied) I just knew it was faster than my Mazda. I asked him how much he could let it go for, He said let me have them appraise your Mazda, after we got back to the dealership, he said they appraised my mazda at 4500, I said take it and that left me paying 17000 for the car. I drove home that night feeling good, I was on the highway in a Lincoln, with 500 in my pocket, and feeling that I got a fair deal.

Looking for a 4dr (previous car was a 98 Cavvy coupe - still have it). Saw a black 01 LS sport with quite a bit of miles on it and got it for $1500. Put about $2000 into it (COPs, plugs, tranny + coolant flush, oil+air+cabin+fuel filters, clockspring, FEM wiring, wheels) and it was running nice and purty. Loved the feel of it by far of any car I'd driven (Cavvy, Volvo 240, 850, 940, Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback) and was sad when it was wrecked by an insured idiot in Minnesota.

Just got into an 06 earlier this week an am happy again :D

I had a 98 cavalier at one time, it had power nothing, it had no rear defroster neither, that car was the shyt, LOL

~shakes head~...

Forking kids. No respect I tell you. No respect.

This senior citizen gonna kick you arse, young-un.

:D

You would have to come to the springs first, and being that I am at work most of the time, (because I suck at recruiting) you wouldn't hurt a service member, would you?

Look like the only thing they can do is copy the Mark VIII forums LOL

They're used to copying things.

Like copying the old BMW 3 series.
Or- like copying the Mitsubishi Diamante.

So, it's in their nature. :p

We are following our elders footsteps, we just wear different shoes, you all wear orthopedics, we wear Nike.

Saw one at the '98 car show in San Diego. Then and there I decided that if I could ever afford one I would have one. Bought the first one in August 2000 and still have it. Also have 2 '06s.

:bowrofl:

I am 21 years old and Since I was 17 I had been driving a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder I got from a friend of my parents for cheap as they were going to trash it. The car was in decent shape and was just old of course. I fixed everything on it myself and kept it running. In 2008 it started its final hurrah and began letting go of more and more things. The engine had a constant kind of knocking and the car was just bogged down by itself. This car was used in car audio competitions and I had a large stereo system inside that was definitely not your average-joe aftermarket setup. I had a stereo system in the car that was worth about 3-4 times as much as the pathfinder lol. I knew it was time to retire the old pathy and move onto something newer.

I had been saving up money to get a new car, just needed to find one in my price range (about 4-5k @ the time). I was looking into late model Crown Vics as ex-patrol cars as I just loved those for some reason. The ones I wanted were the newer ones that were just out of my price range. As I kept looking, I would broaden my search more and more into other cars, I was pretty specific on what I liked, and had a list, if you will. Well a top the list was a gen2 Lincoln LS. Of course since my price range was well below the average running price for gen2s I was only dreamin

My search continued the Pathfinder began slowly dieing out on me. I knew I was running out of time as the Nissan was my only way to get to work and school. I decided to do what none of my family or friends thought would ever happen and I began selling all of my car audio equipment. I was selling batteries, wire, subwoofers, cd players, boxes, amplifiers, etc. I was getting rid of it all. I became good friends with the UPS man @ this time as I was bringing him 60+ lb boxes twice a week to ship out gear that I had sold. Let's just say he would joke around saying he would sue me if I gave him a hernia (the joking-tone began wearing off as I kept coming back lol).

So it was about midway through 2008 and I had finally saved enough money to be in range of an LS. Now the only problem was finding one near me/right price in time for the death of the Nissan. I searched and searched for about 5 or 6 months and finally came across one on CraigsList believe it or not. The posting was a couple weeks old as this was the first time I was checking CL for an automobile, lol. I emailed the poster and sure enough, they still had it. Weeks went by with us trying to schedule a meeting where I could come take a look at it. They lived about an hour away from me and our schedules were very incompatible. We finally had a weekend where I could come take a look, but unfortunately we were forecasted to have a crippling snowstorm the same time. So we waited till the next. Of course, the snowstorm never came and I was kicking myself in the butt for not going out there, in fear of them selling the car to someone else.

Anyways I remember the first time seeing the car as my mother drove me out to the meet where I saw from the distance that beautiful black gen2 sitting diagonal in a church parking lot. The way the guy parked it, backed into the parking spot with the wheels slightly cocked made it look so bright even on this gloomy overcast day. As we pulled up I immediately noticed how good of shape it was in for having 100k+ and only being 4 years old. I began examining the car (which belonged to the wife of the guy I met with). I ended up knowing more about the LS than he did, as I had done research and been on this forum for about 6 months prior to ever owning an LS.

After a thorough inspection by me and a nice little test drive on the open roads in this small town, I already knew i was making an offer. He told me they were upside down in the car, and owed over 8 thousand on it.

After stopping back in the church lot and giving the car one last walk around, he said to me that if I wanted I could just think about it some more and come back and make an offer. I said "I think I wanna do a deal today". My heart started pumping after this and I was in full blown haggle mode. He mentioned earlier in the meet that a guy offered him $6900 and has denied it. I told him, "look, I know you declined the 6900 last week, but like you said you want out of the car, how bout I hand you that 6900 right now and I drive it off?"

He gave me that "Hmmm" look and I knew what was coming next, "I dunno if I wanna go that low still.... I will to 7k though"

I smiled, held out my hand, shook his firmly and said "7 grand it is".

The drive home that day, was....well.... awesome! Knowing I had just made my first big purchase of my life with all of MY money with no help from my mom was a very cool feeling. I still carry the feeling everyday as I sit down in that leather seat and grip that woodgrain and think to myself, ''this is %100 MY car, and it is.... the Lincoln LS.''

I just realized how long this post was, and how nobody is going to waste their time reading it, lol.... Oh well - It felt good writing it all! :p

I've owned MN12 t-birds since I was 16 (20 now) and when my 94 t-bird got t-boned I got an insurance check for $2k. sat on the check for a month or so and then found my 2000 black v8 LS non-sport for....$2k. missisipi car up here in mass, with 140k on the body, 10k on the motor (timing chain went, previous owner had it rebuilt) and absolutely NO rust on the body. I took it home that night, and it's been a love-hate relationship since.

It needed a new passenger mirror, inner door handle, and window regulator (apparently someone tried to break in). every bushing in the suspension is basically shot, but the whole car is solid, and I'm putting every dime I can to getting it back to stock specs, then I can play.

Aren't you supposed to be an Army of one and all that jazz? LOL

Maybe you'll kick my ass, you never know. I am getting long in the tooth, you know. You wouldn't kick an old man's ass, would you? :D

Froggy, forgetful aren't we, its Army Strong! thats the new motto, I know that you have skills, I read about KK at the beach party. I am only Level II Combative Certified, I have a lot of learning to do. Besides, I know about "Old Man" Strength, I would never fight my grandfather, I am almost positive he would whip my arse, or shoot me either way I loose.

That's my car exactly! :p No power anything (except the steering). The newest thing on the car are the tires, wheel covers and stereo (Kenwood eXcellon).

That's the problem with old people. We just don't fight fair. And if we're about to lose, we'll just shoot the poor SOB.

How about I just buy you a beer next time and we'll call it good?

Only if you drink also, I am redoing my deck next weekend, afterwards when you inthe springs Mike and You can swing thru I will invite of couple of my buddies and we can cook and act out.

My mom gave me her ls v8 as a graduation present for me in 07...At first they were considering buying me something newer. After looking around, most cars didnt have the options I desired like : rwd, leather, manumatic shifting, and good looks without a high price tag... So the ls was a no brainer. I'm very happy with my car. I get comments on it weekly...many say "What model is ur car?"...They are shocked when I say a 2000. My car is about to turn over 150,000 miles yet it's still going strong.. Too bad it's a discontinued car.

Since we're talking about the Mark VIII . Which is better the 1st gen or the 2nd gen ? which is more reliable the Mark VIII or the LS V8 ???

Today,I saw a red 1st gen here in Saudi Arabia :D .

Well, it came stock with a single disc CD, AM/FM deck that was on its way out. Put in the eXcellon that I scrounged from my wrecked 01LS.

Had two Mark VIIs, a 95 Mark VIII, so an LS was the next step. Was actually looking for a Navi to tow my 87 when I stumbled across the LS. Then wound up parting the 87. That's pretty much the gist of it.
