I'll be doing a quick oil change when I get back to the states and get my baby out of storage (95 Mark VIII base model). I'm currently running AMSOIL 100% synthetic 5W-30. I just checked the AMSOIL website and their recommendations actually include 5W-20 and their 0W-30 Signature Series. What are you high-mileage drivers using? I intend to hang on to this thing for a while and I'd love to crest 300,000 miles one day without an engine change.

I am know using moblie one 5w-20. However I have used the amsoil 0w-30 in other cars and that is a very good product. I would recommend the 0w amsoil it is the race oil and much better than the other. Everything amsoil makes is good sh!t. IMO

That's one endorsement for the AMSOIL 0W-30. Anybody else have a story (good or bad) about the 0W-30? I've NEVER used the stuff and I'm a little wary about using anything 0W, since I haven't ever owned a vehicle that uses it.

Amsoil 5w-30 and their Ea011 filter....117000 miles on my car...switched over at 89000....I have had to add almost 1 quart total in those miles....first oil change at 94000.... second change at 106000..third change at 113000.....used most of that oil in a speed run to AZ from IL....4200 miles in 3.5 days. I love their product.

castral gtx high mileage5w-30 used in my 1994 and about to switch over in my 1997 and both my cars have 154+ miles

I've had some Autozone 5w30 lying around that the PO gave me - I'll be switching to the Motorcraft Synth blend 5w20 when those reserves are depleted.

I've always used Motorcraft filters though.

I used the 0w 30 amsoil in my tacoma for years. I would drive 50K a year so I installed bypass filter and 0w-30. Would change only one time a year. Changed the regular filter a few times thru-out the year and add oil as needed. Never had an issue. Sold the truck at over 300k. The 0 only refers to the cold wieght of the oil. After its warm it works the same as a 5w30

Mobil 1 5/30 Synthetic and I change it every 10,000 miles. Try to use Motorcraft filters but have used what ever Walmart had if I was stuck at that point.

Just turned 200,000 and aside from the leaking out of the valve covers I add around 5 quarts now between changes.

When I just had my trans filter changed I let them do the oil to. Of course they put in Quaker State synthetic and that was a mistake cause it is leaking a ton more :(

motorcraft syn blend 5w-20 5qt jug at walmart for $13 walmart motorcraft filter for $3.50 extra 2 motorcraft quart of oil for $2.28 each total oil change= $23.00 free labor, if I feel lazy I take it to the Mexicans working at the muffler joint and pay them $10 to change the oil, less mess and no oil to dispose of.

5w30.
It really doesn't matter the brand so long as you keep it clean.

Up to before last oil change, Mobil 1 0-30. I could afford to indulge myself with the full synthetic oil up to now, but money is tighter than ever. M1 is $26 for 5 qts, and ~$4 for an additional quart.

Currently trying Motorcraft 5w20 due to its much lower price.

motorcraft 5w20 and motorcraft filters

*secret insider note........coming soon, the fl820s is going to be 0.3" shorter due to fitment issues*

Those filters are already on the shelf, I was surprised.

For those asking about the Amsoil 0W30(SSO), it's one of the best products out there. It's been proven for long drain intervals, holds up well.

Personally, I'm doing an Auto RX run now w/ Mobil Clean 5000. Afterwards, I will be using Schaeffer's 5w30 and Amsoil SSO 0w30. Schaeffer's also makes a good product and I can get it locally for a good price.

As other's have said, change it at a reasonable OCI and 300K is within reach.

Used to run only Amsoil until they started double taxing their customers. I have used their SSO 0w-30, ASM 0w-20, and ASL 5w-30 with great results. You can't really go wrong with any of those. In fact I used to be an Amsoil dealer. Now I just use Mobil 1 0w-30 or Mobil 1 5w-30 depending on avaliability. I'm gonna switch the 96 to Motorcraft 5w-20 because Mobil 1 is pretty expensive now and I don't race the 96 so the semi-syn should be fine. Anything I race I always use full synthetic though, it makes me sleep better at night. BTW, the best filter you can get for our motors is the Amsoil or the Ford Racing. Both are well over $10 bucks a pop though...

I don't see that big of an advantage is a full syn oil for anything but extended OCI's... that's me though.
